Kia vs. Jag
#9
They may look like Jags to to the uninitiated, but they sure don't drive like them. And the interior of the Jag is wonderful. Ever been in one?
Still, the Korean car companies are certainly on the right track. Just give them some time. It's comparable to the first Japanese imports, but with significantly higher quality and incredible warranties.
However, a couple of years ago I did drive Kias for almost a year. My partner and I were in the process of buying a Kia dealership--didn't happen--and I drove several of the cars while the deal was on the table.
For everyday drivers, you'd be surprised at how good they are, especially for the price.

No, it's not. Those cars carry the longest warranty in the industry and you'd be surprised at how much their quality has improved in the past few years. For an inexpensive transportation vehicle, they're actually pretty good. Not fun to drive, but they're good at their mission.

Hence Kia is crap.

Because Hyundai has a horrible reliablity rating. Maybe not so much now, but back in the days of the Pony and the original Elantra. Things have improved, but from what I've heard the warranty is a godsend since it's needed, and the build quality is cheap. I've never liked Hyundai or KIA. Is it just me or does "Killed In Action" not seem like a good name for a car company.
I love my Honda, Nissan, and other Japanese cars, so I'm not anti-asian-import by any means, but I just don't generally like the Korean cars.

Sorry, if I've only got $15k to spend on a vehicle, I'm not going to go buy a Kia ... I'll take a used Mercury or Chrysler any day over that.
