With 800 Hp it doesn't matter. The Vette comes stock with a 315 series tire. No one said street race. I think it's just some basic physics of car design that the Vette is doing more with less. With 800 Hp on street tires you slip the pedal just a little bit and there goes traction. We all know how well the current one does with only 550.

It's pretty easy to break traction in an 04 Cobra and it has a lower ratio rear axle. Numerically speaking. The Vette has wide tires for a reason.
Though your statement about the slicks would work. Even dot slicks will click off great launches. I should look for some video of stock GT500s on slicks. Especially the 2011. All aluminum block, yummy!

Which isn't so much about going in a straight line as it is carrying speed through a turn. Wide tires dont necessarily contribute to forward traction in the way people think they do. A taller tire does a better job when it comes to putting more rubber on the ground for a 0-60 sprint or drag race.

It's definiely a spectacular achievement in automotive technology. I'd love to have one! Just wish I could get one without a Cobalt steering wheel! lol

But in all honesty, its about the AWD acceleration and hookup. Bugatti battling at a millionth of the cost
