I normally agree with Car and Driver, but the GT finishing 3rd in that test is just plain wrong! Here's the email I sent them:

I don't know what Ford did to **** you guys off about the Ford GT, but get over it!

First you run a full-page article in June about the long-ago resolved suspension and oil seal problems that affected only the first few hundred cars. Can we expect to see equal coverage for the recall of the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale's defective wheel bolts that can cause the wheels to fall off, or the Lamborghini Murcielago's recalls to assure that the steering wheel doesn't separate from the steering rack? (Ouch, that would hurt!)

Now in your August supercar test, you rank the GT dead last among the mid-engined entries, despite the fact that the it had:

The fastest acceleration times,
The fastest lap time,
The fastest lane-change speed,
The fastest top speed,
and is even priced tens of thousands less than the Ferrari and Lamborghini
(which, true to form, detonated during your testing).

When Tony Quiroga said you guys drive "like valets on crystal meth" (August page 66) I thought he was kidding, but maybe he wasn't. Now that the Ford GT is selling for close to sticker price ( http://www.FordGTprices.com ), it is unquestionably the performance, style, and value winner in the group, no matter what you guys think.

P.S. Links to recalls referred to above:

Wow FordGTFan! That was very well put I hope to see that letter in their mag but somehow I think they will hide it.

Your research on the subject was excellent as you backed up your opinions with facts. Well done!

I quote Ferris Bueller:

I never saw that episode, but I did find article online. Gallado finished 2nd and GT finished 3rd.

Which brings into question the legitimacy of the test if the car that finished second went home on a trailer.

I never cared about those tests because they don't prove anything. Just like I don't care about those quality test ranking (remember, we had long discusion about that). In my opinion engine's quality is the most important part of vehicle. Things like size of engine, number of cup holders and similar things are not that important, at least not in my opinion. That's why I don't like those test, like this one. They tested how much space there is inside, acceleration times and similar things. To me, none of those things will matter if car have engine problems (I'm not saying that any of those cars will have engine problems because they're all expensive and supercars).
