someone else posted that article already. But it doesn't make sense to me. maybe somone else can explain.

How can a Prius cost that much for its life time. Who is paying this $3.25 a mile on the Pruis. if you consumer pays $25,000 for car. and drives the 100,000 miles at say 40 mpg...so 2500 gallons of gas. which cost average $2.50 a gallon. so $6250+25,000= 31250...so 31 cents per mile. I don't think toyota is eating this additional $293k selling this car. Someone has to pay for all of this and obviously it isn't the consumer. someone else explain this?

I'm not sure where they are getting those numbers either for the Prius, Hummer, or the Scion. Just doesn't make any sense. Doubling the price of the car still doesn't get it close.
