I'd buy a Maloo just because of the name.

"G'day, mate! I just spent all day waxing my Maloo, now I'm ready for a pint of Fosters!"

Between Holden and the Aussie Fords(Falcon ), I feel like the those of us in the States are beat for high HP V8 Sport Sedans.

All this does is remind me how pissed I am that Klutzes in charge of GM axed the G8 and the older GTO. Those were the two best non-corvette cars GM has made in.. well my life has yet to see anything that good from GM

Let's face it - if people were buying them GM would still be selling them.

I remember how big of a disappointment GTO was and G8 didn't do much better either.
I really like G8, but it was a great car at definitely worst times.

i liked the GTO for a bit, but the styling was kind of bland and the more i researched the more i realized the car had quite a few problems, like tires tearing up on earlier models, weak brakes, bad power seats, faulty ignition cylinders, faulty power locks, excessive oil burning, expensive (non-powertrain) parts... i decided it wasn't worth it even though i'd be getting an LS2 for cheap. it was only a three year run and they didn't have enough time to iron out all the issues. the mustang on the other hand, has the benefit of a continous 45 year run, great aftermarket, cheap and reliable replacement parts and besides a few rattles and minor hiccups, built rock solid.

If by "in business" you mean, bleeding money like a stuck pig, I'd have to agree. The GTO and G8 were disasters, much as I might like them, and probably killed any chance we had of getting the Falcon any time soon.

I liked the neo GTO too. Sure, the styling was a touch bland and not quite fresh, but that could be said for the original GTO too. The later ones got quite a bit nicer before totally morphing into a rolling muscle car clown show (Judge models). But they ran and handled great and had one of the best interiors of any GM product. People seem to overlook that the only other viable options was that there would have been no GTO whatsoever.

Not quite sure how the G8 flubbed, but I attribute it to bad marketing and bad timing (spiking gas prices followed by plunging economy followed by Pontiac division death watch). IMHO, the G8 is/was probably the best overall (affordable) GM car ever and will probably become an instant classic that'll have people wondering after-the-fact why they didn't snap one up. The GXP version especially was essentially an E39 M5 for the working man.

They look kind of tacky compared to the G8.
