This car is not cool. Willie Nelson couldn't be cool in one of those. Even Lopez cant sell them. Fiat has always been known for crappy cars too. You deserve to be ridiculed by your coworkers for driving suck a weak azz car.

for what they are, I find them kinda cool. Classic looks, pretty peppy. I couldnt drive one (without a mega moonroof) as I wouldnt fit, but I like them.

You sound like me, I think it's cool too. The difference is that when people give me their unsolicited opinions, my simple response is "I don't give a eff what you think" The car's got personality, personality goes a long way. You like it, get it.

I'll move this thread to the 'General Vehicle Discussion,' but will leave a link for a couple of days . . .
And if you like it well enough . . . get one! Have you thought about waiting until the Fiesta ST arrives to compare?

Will you be purchasing pre-op or post op?
We all know what it means when someone says "she's got a great personality" lol

I've been liking the Fiats I've seen on the roads around here... but if I were going to get a tiny car, I'd get a Mini Cooper S.

They have changed a lot since they were in the USA the last time in the 1980s.
I'm agreeing with the cooperS. Cool little car. Honda Fit(not bad at all). The fiat is not cool at all IMO. Even with a lower stance and stripes. I realize that the top gear guys like fiat but I'm not convinced. And I would really like to see how long these things will last and how soon Americans will completely lose interest in them.

my problem is I just bought my 2012 gt loaded and am very happy with it. But thats my daily driver and I want a toy. But I do not get what people do not see in the little fiat. I drove them about six months ago and have it say they are a great city car. They have more room in front then a mini and the seats are so nice. The bose stereo sounds amazing and the huge moon roof makes it fun. My nephew and I took a long test drive here in northern phoenix and people waved and smiled. We parked and picked up some mexican-chinese(chino bandido) and five people came up and asked about it and gave good feedback on it.

I very much agree with Clarkson when he says that the best cars have a personality. Millions of people say that a Camry is a fantasic car, I wouldnt have one if you gave it to me. It's got no soul, nothing special about it.

All these comments from S197 owners crack me up. A re birthed mock up of a Mustang's past made somewhat new. Wait, same formula for the Cooper, Beatle, Challenger, Camaro and now Fiat. Hmmm I just find it amusing to berate the car and questionable owners.
Either way, people will love or hate it. It just has to perform. Like the Mini Cooper did. Not sure what the outcome will be but the marketing sucks for Fiat.
If the OP liked the test drive then maybe it's worthwhile. I agree that the Fiesta ST should be sweet too.

I think you would have to be European to understand what Fiat 500 is all about and what makes it so special. I don't think Americans really get it (and I don't mean any disrespect with this), just like Europeans really don't get what muscle cars are all about.
I have lived in both places for too long and I get why there are people who love 500 and who love muscle cars.
