I drove a Chevrolet SS
But the same can be said of Ford and Chrysler vehicles also. This is why Toyota and Honda are still seen as better vehicles. In 96 or 97 the LS1 motor came out. It was truly a game changer. The LS platform V8's are built to last even when neglected. Less than 10 years after introducing these engines, GM started offering 100k mi power train warranties because 100k was nothing to achieve anymore. A manufacturer that is afraid to offer 100k powertrain warranties now is really not to be trusted. Chrysler even offers 100k which is why I have replaced a whole lot of motors under warranty. Lol
Currently our Mazda mini van has 132k miles and running like new (knock on wood). No one else in my family has had Ford vehicles. They have either had GM vehicles, Nissan or Toyota. I agree Toyota and Honda are built to last for high millage and far fewer repairs.
As far as Ls1 engines I never owned a GM with that engine in it. Perhaps the GM vehicles of 2013 and 2014 are as good quality as other manufactures unfortunately myself and my family have been burned on roughly 7 different GM vehicles that didn't last over 100,000 miles without major repairs.
All vehicles were given routine maintenance.
Well as I said in the other thread. I'm gonna have to get something new in probably 5-6 years. I'll need 4 doors. I would really like to keep a V8 and RWD. And of course, want it to be a ford.
Let's hope something is in the works!
I'd prefer not to have to go to an SS.

The Chevy SS is going to be made in such small numbers they are going to be overpriced for a long time. But you can get a better looking one today and get a G8. Plus G8 GXP can come in 6-speed manual which you cant get in the SS.
I personally am a Ford guy, reason being is that I first hand have experienced a well made, tough ford vehicle. Before my first car, I drove around my dads 99 taurus which I but through the ringer before he bought me my dream car at the time (04 mustang). That taurus never left me stranded and kept running well into the 200k before my dad sold it. My mustang which was brand new at the time, i put through hell (dumb 16 yr old kid with a heavy foot) and after 140k and 8 years later i sold it and never had to change anything but an alternator. The guy that I sold it (which I saw him this past week) said it still runs like new and no mechanical problems what so ever.
As for GM, my family had owned a few of them. My dad bought an 08 Malibu ltz brand new and he babys his cars. Before making his last 6 payments and with just over a 100k, had to replace a radiator and whole transmission. My sisters first car was a 04 grand am gt couple, that car had so many recalls and issues. She still owns it but no longer uses it because the costs of repairs she s had to make have been well over what its worth. Funny thing is that my dad had a brand new transmission installed by the chevy because he was giving it to my sister to have a more "reliable" car. Then my dad goes and buys a 2013 buick verano so far no issues but still only has less than 30K, so time will tell.
My wife back in college had a 95 honda coupe and well over 150k, and that car would take us everywhere on very little gas, bo matter the weather. Never had any mechanical issues and then finally traded it in for a Chrysler Sebring 2010, which after getting married i traded in for a ford edge
.
So I trust in ford because of my experiences and feel the way i do for GM because of my families experiences. I currently drive a 2012 mustang gt and I love it. The only car I would own of GM is a G8 GT/GXP. As for Dodge/Chrysler/Ram/Jeep, I like alot of their vehicles and have been tempted to buy before but the whole price deprecation and unknown of how reliable they are, always makes me hold back.

We like the two door FWD drive V8 car. This is why we have a 07' Monte Carlo SS. We don't have any kinds so the two door works well. We drive the car year round, which is why we want the FWD option. And V8 because everything we own is a V8.
And why not? lol
If ford made this, we would of bought a ford. Same thing with the Avalanche. Love that truck. Rides like a caddy. If ford made a full size truck like the Avalanche, we would of bought it.
I have no problem with what I drive. They all drive the same to me. As long as I can get from point A to point B is all that matters.
psst......Hey Ford I think you should make a FWD, two door, V8 optioned car.
