Ha

I have the same paint scheme on my 07 mustang with the saleen heritage front bumper. All it is is a merging of the the 60's le mans mustangs with the trans am racers of the 70's. I was devistated when the gt350 came out because i also called the my stang a gt350 because of the 350 horses i have under the hood, give or take.

Burn, you need to get some national media coverage. Maybe talk to the major Mustang publications about featuring your chops, I remeber VW Trends running a two-panel article on some styling ideas for people looking to customize thier cars, it was a regular feature when I cared to check the magazine out. Maybe something along the lines of "the factory stuff isn't to bad, but if I had it my way!"

Man i've lost count how many times this has happened to you this is effin awful.

i see students steal ideas from eachother at my school all the time, and it pisses me off, but this is even worse. this is in the real world and they're going to make a fortune off of what they stole

I didn't need another reason to lose respect for the shelby corporation, but i sure as hell got one

if there's any positive you can take from this at all, at least look at the rest of the car and remember that they can't design a car for ****

I have seen the GT350 in person and the rear end is the only part of the car worth having.

BTW if you people thought the offsets on the RTR rear wheels were bad, these are even worse. These Cragars they put on the rears stick out of the fenders, and for all that positive offset they still only put 265s on them.

I can't help but notice that in both those pictures the rear ends look quite a bit like a 1970 Boss 302. At least in regards to the blacked out valances and taillight surrounds, and in the case of the Shelby, even the backup lights.

It's entirely possible they never even saw your photoshop.

I was thinking the same thing. I like Doug's stuff, but there is so little truly new under the automotive sun that occasionally you are going to run into the automotive equivalent of two women showing up at the ball in the same dress. Nobody is entirely sure how it happened, but it does.

I think the retro styling cues used on cars like the Mustang make this even more probable. One person designed a Boss inspired design feature, another does the same, and then everybody is surprised when their stuff looks alike. It's inevitable, if several people are designing items that pay homage to the same carsyou are going to run into some pretty serious overlap.

A good example is a pic of a car somebody posted on here not too long ago which was basically going to be a LS7-powered Cobra throwback. The stylist had given the original Cobra's face an update with headlights that were canted back something like those on a Porsche 993.

It was extremely cool, but they were far from the first to come up with the idea as AC built a prototype that had this same features decades ago and, to be blunt, I'm not sure at this point anybody can tell you who the first to come up with the idea actually was. Did they copy AC? Maybe, but that particular AC prototype is a fairly obscure vehicle so to be honest I doubt that they did. The point here being that, in this case, it was such an obvious direction for the front of the car, particularly for anybody that has ever seen a newer 911, that we were going see it happen and more than one person is going to have the idea.

Could Doug's stuff have been copied here? Of course. Can we be in any way sure that actually happened? Not really.
