Hyundai is certainly on a roll, it seems the Japanese are getting a taste of thier own medicene, Hyundai is able to leverage its cheap labor costs in order to offer a comparable car at a cheaper price point. The quality of their cars seems to have vastly improved over the days when Hyundai's were battling it out with Yugo for the cheapest ride around.

Since VW accuired Porsche they are also using combined number of VW and porsche.

And what exactly will I not like after a year in a Hyundai?
I know fit & finish is done really well because I checked each and every Hyundai at the auto show every year. They're stylish, economical, pretty powerful and have a 10 year warranty. And according to JD Powers - pretty reliable too.
I'm a Ford guy and I love Fords, but you know what's sad? That my buddy's base model 2008 Hyundai Accent (which was under $10,000 brand new) is more quiet than my Fusion during driving.
I have a pretty good experience with Fords so I'm not planing to switch brands, but if I ever buy an import - it's gonna be Hyundai/Kia.

Hyundai is coming on extremely strong, which isn't really a surprise as the writing for this was well and truly on the wall many years ago. That said, having recently spent a some time in a couple of Hyundai's I can say that they do still have some ground left to cover.
For example, the new Sonata my wife and I drove to Ohio for a weekend trip was very impressive in terms of overall room, power, and fuel economy. However, wind noise was genuinely horrendous at any speed above 70mph and cross wind stability was amazingly bad for a car that looks like a bullet with tires. Even more, two parts of the interior literally fell off in my hand during the trip.
To be fair those parts were small and relatively insignificant, and the car was one of the first couple thousand, if not couple hundred, new Sonata's off the assembly line. Still, I have never had multiple interior pieces fall of in my hand while driving any relatively new Honda or Ford. That was enough to wipe Hyundai and Kia completely off of the consideration list when looking for a new car for my wife.
Give it another five to ten years and Hyundai is absolutely going to be one of the three global automakers to beat, but they aren't quite king of the mountain yet.

As someone who holds no ties to any car maker and finds the beauty in individual vehicles rather than an entire company, I have to say Hyundais are **** good vehicles. Then again I guess it also depends on the owner of said vehicle for it's reliability.
I have a 2003 Elantra GT I bought brand new and added to my collection of cars which included a '02 WS6 TransAm, '97 Eclipse GS, '90 Probe LX, '88 Monte Carlo SS w/383 Stroker, '70 Chevelle SS 454 LS6.
As you can see I had at one time a sampling of vehicles from different manufacturers and each one of them had their ups and downs. As of right now I still have my '97 Eclipse and '03 Elantra along with an '05 Stang and my fiancee drives a '10 Nissan Versa. I'm very happy with the quality of each of those vehicles and see no reason why my "man card" or "Stang card" should be taken away because I drive a Hyundai.
I think a 5.0 Genesis Coupe will be one hell of a street contender if they can get their AWD to be in competition with Subaru's version.
