Hopefully getting a new car (if finances allow)

But it ain't a Mustang This thing now runs on LPG (CNG, autogas whatever you want to call it), this means that it costs half what it costs to run a petrol model, so....45mpg!

Excellent. Just need to get the loan now.....

Liquid Propane?
Leaded Petrol?

Excellent find, James. Is this a replacement for the Honda? If so, good choice.

I'm moving to Poland in two months. If I even buy a car there you'd better believe it'll be one with good mpg. Too expensive otherwise. My daily driver will be a tram.

That shouldn't be too hard to find in Europe.

LPG = Liquid Petroleum Gas
CNG = Compressed Natural Gas

Basically means the car runs on the same thing as your oven.

You lose about 5% power and 10% economy but.....

Because emissions are 1/6th of the emissions of a diesel, the tax levied on the fuel here is reduced dramatically, halving the cost of running the car.

(btw. If you run out of LPG, it still runs on normal gas station gas as well)

How much does LPG cost in the UK, James?

BTW, congratulations on the purchase! I've been contemplating the idea of buying an LPG-fuelled daily driver myself too.

Anywhere from €0.57 to €0.72 a litre, but generally €0.61. The higher figure is really only on the motorway service stations. But when you think that Diesel is €1.39 a litre, there is a huge saving to be had.

It is called Road Fund License, and was supposed to pay for new roadbuilding / maintenance. Unfortunately, it now goes into the huge pot of taxes that get squandered by our government. It is linked to emissions, and if the car had not been converted to LPG, it would have been £300 a year (c $600)

That's cheap compared to what we have to pay here: EUR 828/year ($1110/year) for my '05 Mustang GT!

Luckily my car is "tax-free" (think CD-type plates)

Basically the same as your state tax, except over there, you know what your money is going to instead of not knowing like we have here (f'n politicians)

That's the point though Scott. Only 45% of the road tax taken actually gets spent on roads. The rest just disappears into the ether.

About $7bn doesn't reach the roads as it should.

Anyway. Insurance is sorted, and I am flying down to London tomorrow to pick the car up. I am rather excited!
