i am young, i HATE RICE ROCKETS! idk why everyone assumes all young people like them
Remember, i am In NY, and that was last year i saw the car, and i hated it, when they first told everyone about it i loved it until i saw it, then i think they made too much hype over such a ugly car..
i dont have to check anything, it was on the window sticker i saw in person

I'm really beginign to ike the GTO...like i've said before the Aussies now where they are at when it comes to performance. All I'd do is slap on the original aussie body panels and I'd hapily take one.
Good read..thanx Jason

I know a lot of you have called the GTO a Grand Prix or a Grand Am, but the funny thing is that someone actually thought my car was a GTO, granted he was only looking from the front and didn't see the 4 doors until I pulled up beside him.
I had hood scoops on mine before the GTO was unveiled.

but its not a muscle car technically, unless u consider a Monaro a muscle car

As for the 05 GTO, I prefer the Mustang and would walk right past the Goat on my way to the Ford dealership, but I do like the car. With the better brakes and 400hp LS2 of the 05 GM has almost gotten all the 04my "problems" fixed. The look is still not right IMO, but I think the real problem is that the car looks dated moreso than bland. The Monaro is getting a bit old and it shows worse in this cfar than on the Monaro IMO. The Sport Package offered for 05 goes a long way toward fixing this, but the scoops just don't look right on this car and you can;t get one without the other.
In the end I agree with BM, if I were to buy one I would turn it into a Monaro (cosmetically speaking) as they are better executed IMHO.

There is a hood scoop delete option on the '05 GTO.

I know, but my understanding is that you cannot get the Sport Package and opt for the scoop delete too which is what is the point I was trying to make. I could be wrong though.

Edit: I see the Sport Appearance packages, they are dealer installed, not factory, so I don't see why you can't have it without a hood scoop. And the Sport Package is only available in three colors.

What exactly is in this Sport Package. I just went onto Pontiac's website to build a GTO and the only options it has is the transmission, hood scoop delete and an 18" wheel.

So, it would appear you can get them together, thanks for the correction holder. However, I think this is actually worse news for GM as being dealer installed will probably make it less common on lots and therefore less likely to draw in customers.
