Fusion's oil change

I always changed oil in all my cars every 3,000 miles except in truck where I decided to follow the book and change oil every 5,000 miles.

So when my Fusion recently pass 3,000 miles I wanted to take it for an oil change.

But according to book that I got in the car oil should be changed every 7,500 miles.

Isn't that little too much? I know that some guys here have Fusions; when do you guys change oil in your cars?

Disclaimer: I don't own a fusion.

In Wisco, with the cold weather, it could be a bit long. At 7,500 you'll be getting some performance degradation, especially after a few years. 5K sounds about right.

I am sure the manufacturer know what they are talking about. Don't waste the oil. Do the fusion's come with syn oil in them.

Changed mine at 5500 miles-the back of my mind resisits going 7500 miles between changes. As a side note, she didn't use hardly any oil-no need to add!
Fusions as well as all gas engine Fords (with the exception of the GT and GT500) use 5w20 synth-blend oil.

I'd find out what kind of oil the factory fill is. With a quality synthetic, 7500 isn't a problem. Heck, on my Mini the computer in the car determines the oil change interval mileage (or one year, whichever comes first), and a couple of my changes were 10-12k miles apart (included with the 3 year free maintenance).
