Forthcoming BMW M3 Details and Pics
Price - If you have to ask...
Engine - 4.0L V8, 420BHP
Transmission - Six-Speed manual, rear-wheel drive, torque sensing lockable diff
Performance - 0-62mph 4.9 secs, 155mph (limited) [Seems kind of underwhelming.

I like it, doesn't look bad at all! The est. 0-60 # may be underrated (the new boosted 3-series coupe can do that). If not, BMW is taking a page out of the GT500 book - as far as acceleration goes - given the hp and (expected high) price. That would suck because Autoweek got a 4.2 sec. to 60 and 13.3 sec. 1/4 mi. for the RS4. Of course, these cars aren't only about going fast in a straight line and BMW usually doesn't dissapoint in that regard.

A naturally aspirated, 4.0L V-8 in a coupe of this size and weight always seemed like too little, too late given what other automakers have wrought of late. BMW is obviously bringing a 400hp car to a 500hp party, and with a price tag that will hardly make the M the value leader in the segment. But at this point it holds no shock value for me and is, by this point, merely one more place that BMW is obviously set to give up ground to the competition.
"Hello, I'd like a BM. About 15 feet of one."
"Oh, that's the 3-series."
"Mmm, that sounds pretty good"
"You can get an M for ten thousand more."
"Oh good, that'll look great in the lot."

the looks of the car is horrible.
the 2005 to my eyes is the nicest design hands down.
the Old 1998's M3 were a beautiful machine too, I think BMW is looking more and more like a japanese cars nowadays, that isnt good for me.
they are loosing character.
I'd stay with a M3 2005 or the 2006 if it is the same shape.
why would they limit that car to 155 mph when the M3's can go easily over 170 mph??
retarded... but at least they got read of the iDrive right?

I like it but not into the 4 exhausts poking out in the back. Set us up with a couple (2) nice straight or whatever pipes with understated tips out the back please.
It will also be IMO:
Too expensive both to insure and purchase
Too special to drive on a daily basis (can't have this thing sitting in joe schmos parking lot)
Just completely out of many BMW lovers range price wise (and most regular guys who like them too)

The target market for this car are BMW lovers for whom money is typically not a problem.
Thanks for the link. I am not sure if I like it better than the 06.
So far I like all the E30, E36, and E46 M3's. I remember looking for an E36 98 or 99 M3 sedan, but couldn't find one so I bought a E36 328i. Now I have a E46 330i sedan and love it. No M3 yet for me but great cars they are

I like the front, and the rear but I agree that it needs a cleaned up bumper area with only 2 exhaust tips not 4. Also they need to loose the chrome around the windows it just doesn't look right to me. Still the car will be very expensive, I hope for BMW's sake it's not in the 90K region like some are assuming.

. . I dig it. I look forward to a new RS4 vs. M3 comparison.
