The 500, montego and freestyle all got top ratings from NHTSA.
check this out:
"It is the best overall performance achieved by any four-door sedan tested without side air bags in the history of NHTSA."
they go on to recommend that everybody get the side curtains anyways, but its a really good sign as far as the engineering goes.

This is great news. I read this late last week on another site.

Nice to see the Volvo's safety technology paying off for Ford . . . in a Ford (as well as Mercury)!

 

That is good news. I always hear people around my office say that Fords aren't safe cars, maybe this will shut them up.

 

Well its nice to see some of the volvo engineering working its way into regular ford products! LOL

 

Just want to point out that other Fords have gotten 5 star ratings before...
Taurus/Sable
Crown Vic/Grand Marquis
Windstar (I presume the Freestar/Monterey do equally well)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. So anyone claiming Ford's aren't safe is probably a clueless 'tard.
