Flat Spots on tires

The only thing I know about flat spots is that older cars that sat around for a long time got them. My car is a 2001 and less than a year after I got a new set of Bridgestone tires, I experienced a kind of loud thudding noise from the tires and vibration at higher speeds. The dealership has toyed around with the front end regarding this and other issues, and said that my tires had flat spots. My car is a daily driver, and like I said, the tires were barely a year old yet at that time. I'm just confused, first of all, how they got flat spots since the car doesn't sit around, and second of all, how all four got flat spots. Were they defective? or could there be something wrong with the car that causes them to wear bad? The reason I ask is that I'm doing a lot of highway commuting and the ride is rough with the tires like this, so naturally I want to purchase new tires. However, if there is something that is wrong with the car that is causing this, I don't want to buy new tires only to have them get screwed up also; I'd have to pursue the problem with the car first. Any insights?

Theres no way they should have flat spots yet unless you got some seriously defective tires. If it actually is the tires you should be returning them for some free replacements. If theres thudding along with the vibraton i cant think of what else it would be.

my tires on the 01 would flat spot over night in colder temps but that would pretty much go away after a few miles of driving. Does it really feel like its all 4 tires doing it? Silly question have you rotated them yet? The only time I have flat spoted tires has been from using the ebrake to long.

Same situation w/my SVO. It would sit for a week or so, then I would drive it. I'd get the "thud-thud". After they got warm, they would smooth out.

Call Bridgestone. It's sounds like you have an issue.
