too cheap and too few turns, otherwise I'd suggest an older Miata. Escort's probably a good move, though I you want that mid-90s British Touring Car Championship look you could track down a Contour.

 

Telling you guys. 02-05 cavalier or sunfire. Ecotec 4cyl. 140 hp and revs really high. Very strong and light car 2500 lbs should be able to easily get it under 2000lbs without a problem.

 

A crx would be a good track basher, but the stock engine can't tighten a lugnut.

 

How about an Escort ZX2. 130 hp, 127 tq, 2.0L DOHC, 2478 lbs.

 

If you can find a Nissan 240sx, they've got a decent 2.4 4 banger that can handle a lot of abuse.

 

Are you allowed engine transplants? because you can throw a b18 from an integra gsr in a crx and that will run decent.

Which engine? 2.0L or 2.5? They were both pretty underpowered considering Contour's size.

 

i think he has to stay 4cyl so it would be the 2L. Whatever the case, Cody you just need to buy anything and get out there. Practice to make your skills better as a driver will be much more important than what car you buy now.

No matter what you buy you can always sell again for $500 after beating on it. And buy something different when you find one. But atleast you can get driving.

 

I also have a beat on a Probe... with two irons in the fire lets hope something pans out. Oh how I wish I could find a banged up Mini Cooper I could afford....

 

well rats. I hesitated on the Contour and it got sold... the guy with the probe wont call me back, its probably gone too.

This cheap car buying is a cut throat business. I called on a neon 30 minutes after it was put on craigslist and it was already sold! there should be more listings this weekend. I gotta keep my head on a swivel and be ready to pounce when I find the next one.
