I definitely agree with choosing the Explorer, however Grand Cherokee, is considered as a full size SUV. But then again, the same could also be said for the Commander as well. As it all depends on which is larger.

yeah, but look at the early era explorers during the nineties, then look at the latest model explorer....the newest explorers are obviously larger.

I totally agree, just as the Dodge Durango has also increased in size. Seems like it's getting more difficult in determining the difference between full size, and mid sized SUV's anymore.

What do you mean, where did I get that from ? Grand Cherokee has always been Jeep's largest SUV. IIRC the only Jeep that was actually larger, was the old Jeep Wagoneer, which was long before Chrysler bought out AMC !

Just because Grand Cherokee is Jeep's biggest vehicle doesn't mean its a full-size SUV. Chrysler's full-size SUVs are Dodge Durango (2nd generation only) and Chrysler Aspen.

Grand Cherokee is a mid-size, Commander is little longer but still a mid-size and Explorer has always been a mid-size SUV.

Your right, as I was totally focused on just the Grand Cherokee, while completely overlooking the rest of Chrysler's SUV lineup.

Being that both the Grand Cherokee, and Commander are indeed mid sized SUV's. Then yes, it would be a very huge mistake for both vehicles to compete with the Explorer.


That being said, the only choice IMHO, without a doubt. Is the Explorer !
