I'm talking about the people in the eastern part of the U.S. Population density and distance between major cities is such that commuter rail makes some sense. Certainly trying to drive or park a car in New York would be enough to make mass transit very appealing. Many of them are very liberal and have never been west of the Mississippi and have no way to relate to the very different situation in the western part of our country. So they try to push solutions that work for them without analyzing whether they would work anywhere else. Their solutions involve big government, more taxes, etc. Sound familiar?

Nailed it!! My 'liberal' relatives from Taxachusetts and CT have rarely left the Northeast. For them it's a big deal to go to New Jersey, like they are partaking in a momentous journey. Visit NC or go out west??? "Why would we want to go there?"
