Drive Vs. Overdrive?
I got a question... I thought I knew the answer to this, but I've gotten questions from others that got me thinking whether I was doing it the right way.
In automatic cars:
Is it best to be on Drive on the street, and switch to Overdrive once you get a constant speed on the freeway?
or
Be on Overdrive all the time, and use Drive when you need to pass someone up on the freeway or street?
or
Just stay on Overdrive no matter what?
or
It doesn't matter how you do it.

Lalo,
best answer is to read the owners manual
Some auto transmissions are set up so that when you have it in OD, the shift points are at a lower rpm to get a bit more fuel efficiency. They suggest using D when driving in heavy traffic or in hilly terrain.
Other auto transmissions specify you use O/D only on the highway.

Thanks a lot!
Just checked the manual, and it's just like you said

Lalo,
I keep mine in OD all the time, the box drops out of OD when under moderate accelleration anyway. I think I have only pressed the button to disable the OD once or twice, and I think both of those times I was on surfaces that were prone to ice.
