Dodge Charger Pursuit claims its victories in Michigan State Police tests

The Big Three are finally done one-upping each other in this year's Michigan State Police vehicle evaluations, with the 2012 Dodge Charger Pursuit V8 laying down some heady numbers on the test track. The Charger emerged with the fastest lap time ever recorded in the Michigan State Police test's history, at 1:33.7.
That, boys and girls, is something else. The Chevrolet Caprice PPV may have the best top speed and braking, but the Charger has shown it has the chops to slice up the twisties as well. The Hemi-powered Charger also gets to 60 in under six seconds with the optional 3.07 gears.
The only strike against the Charger is that needed a V8 to post those numbers, while both the Chevrolet Caprice and Ford Interceptor employ less thirsty V6s.

yeah to bad, if only the 5.4 SC from the GT500 could have fit (it was my understanding that the 4.6 2v was even a tough squeeze) and Ford had choose to kept producung an updated Vic.
Ford could have been telling dodge "PURSUE THIS"
Pricey, sure but a 550+ hp police car would certainly make you think twice before trying to run away.

The Crown Vic was a great fleet vehicle--relatively cheap, durable, and cheap to maintain. With the body-on-frame and a twenty-year stockpile of spare parts, an officer could total a car and it could be back on the road in a matter of days.
Now that the panther is gone, I don't expect Ford to retain its once dominant position in this arena. I think Ford may come to regret neglecting to upgrade the platform.
See one in your mirror and slow down for miles, only to find out its grandpa.Used to be similar when CHP had those stinking Fox body black and whites. It got to where you were slowing down for every dang Mustang in your mirror on the freeway.

No one out runs a Motorola. Which is why LEO's are more concerned with trunk space, (where are you going to fit 70-lbs of gear--web belt, vest, ammo belt, mace, nightstick, mag light, et al?) than they are with 0-60 times. Also, it has to have a nice flat dash for the pizza/doughnut box!
.
.I still think I should have offered to go back there and help his department develop some hyper speed strategies! Legit and closed course of course
