I didn't realize a convertible Challenger was even in the works...

 

It didn't cause that much of a weight addition to the s197. They just don't know how.

That means s197 Vert will hold more value. If you want a Vert go ford.

 

According to the article they didn't cancel it ... they never planned to make one ...

 

That was my interpretation, too. I could see where the additional weight would hurt them with CAFE. The Challenger is already a heavy car to begin with.

 

There was a lot of talk from inside the halls of Dodge about a Challenger Vert, whether they "officially" planned to make one or not.

My assumption is that if sales were stronger, gas were cheaper and the economy wasn't in the toilet, we'd be looking at a Challenger Vert next year. Saying they never planned one is an easy way out.
