www.hornblasters.com

These guys sell Train horns to mount on your car. If you can't see the vid, it's a bunch of guys driving around blasting the horn and taping people's reactions. I'm still crying.

When I had first got my license, me and my friends used to buy canned air horns and drive around blasting it, doing the same thing. This is like 100000000 times overkill.

If you haven't heard a train horn before up close, they are REALLY LOUD.

I saw that today and decided I wanted one. But the air tank would clutter up your trunk. Worth it though!!!

No. That horn uses compressed air to make noise. You can buy replacement horns that sound different than stock but will probally not be as loud as the compressed air ones.

These train horns need compressed air. Yes it could replace the stock horn because you could just take the wires that power the stock horn and run them to a relay to power the train horn. You just can't replace the horn itself though, it's not a direct replacement.

I would love to see one of you put a train horn in your mustang.

JC Whitney sells a dixie horn.

That's too funny!

But I think a whistle from a big old steam locomotive would be more fun than an ordinary diesel locomotive horn. But then there's the issue of putting a boiler, firebox, etc etc in the car somewhere. Let alone having that thing sticking out of the hood or roof.

As far as the "funny" aspect, their site advertises 148db for their horns. That's as loud as standing right next to a jet engine at takeoff, and has the potential to cause permanent hearing damage with even very brief exposures. Not funny imho :notnice:

I remember when the truckers were protesting at the capitol building in Sacramento that one guy had a train horn on his big rig. I will agree, it is loud!!

But I'll wager that these are illegal to use on-road so use at your own risk.

How is potentially hurting other people a boost to "living"?

Maybe I'm a bit more cautious of the dangers here, after being next to a high powered laser power supply when it exploded on the bench while it was being tested 20 years ago and living with constant tinnitus (ringing in the ears) for the past two decades. Hearing damage is permanent. It doesn't get "better". Anyone that would intentionally expose people to sound levels that could cause this kind of harm is a serious donkey waste orifice :notnice:

A friend of mine had a boat horn in his suburban. It was crazy, not as loud as a train horn, not even as loud as a semi horn but it got people attention.
