Cosworth's F1-Derived Turbo-4 coming to....
...a mystery vehicle. Going to be a real screamer if it's pushing anywhere near 300hp/liter as Andy Ball says.
Nice to see Cosworth's still got a chance to show this engine off even after they were boned by F1 and then by Jaguar.
And here is where I point out that Ford has a great history with Cosworth and is very interested in turbocharged 4-cylinders at the moment. I really really really really want to see this engine in a hot Ford. Please, Alan?

Needs to be more Astony
Its interesting OEM applications are still below the 300hp/Liter mark.
I know they have a lot to deal with on government regulations holding them back but they are still way below what the aftermarket offers. For example there is a tuner here in Chicago that tunes Evo's and they make over 1000hp on a 2 Liter engine. So thats over 500hp/L which is way higher than the highest specific output of any manufacture. I think the crown goes to the 911 GT2 right now with 172hp/Liter.

Also, I imagine the thought of warrenty claims on a 300hp/l motor gives the OEMs some chills up the spine. Bleeding edge specialty manufacturers, models and enthusiast buyers, ala the Porsche GT3, might stomach such costs, potential and actual, but a general production model car, hmmmmmmm.
EPA requirements, particularly the 8yr/80k emission equipment warranty may play a part here too.
