If this is infact the new vette I'll stick with the C6 grand sport please.
Unless they were doing flying butresses ala the C3 Stingray this isn't gonna fly in my book. I bet alot of the hardcore corvette guys are having an caniption right about now.

I do not like the rockers or the pointy Camaro-like front bumper, but I'm still interested in shopping one when they come out.

it's not hideous, but it's certainly not gorgeous either. I'm kinda meh on the styling.

Too much GTR styling, too much 240Z styling. Almost looks unbalanced and leaning backwards.

Looks like GM is trying out "New Edge" styling on the C7.

Looks like those renderings were accurate:

Like I said, and although I don't like Jalopnik much I give credit where's it is due, the Jalopnik renders weren't speculation.

I like it. Looks like what Ferrari is doing. I think we're going to see the American cars start really going after the European sells, and that means taking some European styling cues. I think we'll see some of the same in the '15 mustang

If these renderings are for real, then GM is about to seriously screw up the Corvette

While the interior looks to be much improved over the C6's cabin, Paul, I agree that the Corvette C7's exterior -- at least from what I've seen thus far -- just isn't doing it for me, IMO.

Again, I think it looks great.

I feel like most people are living in the past when it comes to these iconic cars. They have to look different eventually, just a questions of when not if.

Same goes for the mustang.

The Tailights are the least offensive part to me. I could live with those. I think it's the GT-R styling that makes me cringe. It looks Japanese not american.

This. Except the tails offend me as well.

That dash rendering reminds me of the MK4 Supra's dash.

Uh oh...well, that's, ummmm, different...

A shame its not actually good.

As I posted elsewhere, this seems more like a committee design mashup of various de riguer performance car design cliches and tid bits, all tossed into the design salad bowl, shaken vigorously and voila, apparently everyone on the design committee did get their equal say in the end result.

Not that I'm at all against moving a long established model's design well forward, even breaking from its past, but doing so is not necessarily mean that the result, simply by being radically different, is actually a good design and I think that may well be the case here.

Yeah, there are a LOT of very interesting, intriquing and even exciting individual elements one can point to (as every member of the design committee inevitably will), but the whole ends up being far less than the sum of these disparate parts.

So, judging from these CAD images and reserving final judgement for the real thing, I would give high marks for moving the Corvette design forward and having the will to break from the past but rather low marks for the final execution and result of that break. I think the 2014 needed a far stronger singular designer and design vision for a far more cohesive overall design.

Here's a profile shot of the C7 I found on Autoblog.

It looks like Jalopnik's rendering was right on the money.

This! I'm all for breaking the proverbial mold and moving a design forward, but if it's ugly, it's ugly. Besides, the C7, at least in terms of its aesthetic, isn't exactly the paradigm shift some are making it out to be.

Different for differences sake is nothing but different but not necessarily better.

I've been thinking a bit about BMW's Chris Bangle's almost contrarian indulgence in different for differences sake, but that seemed more of a personal ego trip while the C7 strikes more more as an unfocused and derivative committee effort.

Yes, it is rather different from previous Vettes of the past 30+ years at least, but too, it is very derivative of other existing performance car design elements rather awkwardly packaged together as the C7 Vette.

Again, the aim and goal had much merit, its the actual execution that seems to let it down, design-wise.

Rioting by the Corvette faithful in 3.. 2.. 1...

If the above posted exterior and interior renderings are indeed accurate, the C6 may prove to be the high point in the model's history until GM rectifies it with a update. Dodg- er, SRT did a better job with the Viper compared to this.
