Personally the Charger is growing on me, especially the SRT version. If I was a family man looking for a fast ride, i'd consider it. Its also built in my hometown
Lets try this in General Vehicle Discussion

The darn thing is a rolling identity crisis: look at it from three different angles, it looks like three different cars... short nose like its been kicked in.... like an unwanted brother of a 300.....
If it was a car on its own without the name, then maybe I'd give it more of a break. But that thing is no Charger.
Thing weighs as much as an M1A1 too so it sure needs that Hemi horsepower.....
Not a fan here.......

Agreed. I didn't think they looked that bad in pics but when I saw one at the NYIAS I wasn't impressed. Its not easy to nail the retro look IMO and unfortunately for Chrysler I don't think they did on this car. It just looks too flat in the front and fat in the rear

Well, when you consider the Charger isn't intended to be retro it's pretty easy to understand why they didn't nail the retro look with it.

Oh, it's absolutely supposed to be retro ... just not Charger retro. The Magnum is retro-flavored, which led directly to the 300C which is retro flavored, which led directly do the Charger. They're all three more or less the same dang car.

It doesn't have to take its cues from any particular car. There are certain things that give a car a feel, a style. Just the shape and flow of the new Charger evokes an attempt to put a new take on old car design. It's just the style. If you play me some music by a German composer from the late 1800s without telling me who it was or where he was from, I probably could guess he was German, in the Romantic period ... not because it sounds like anything else, but because of the style it's composed in and the devices used. Same thing here.

If Ford put a new grille with a horse emblem on the Crown Vic then put a hot engine in it and called it a "Mustang", would Mustang fans buy it?
It's sort of the same thing Daimler-Chrysler did with the "Charger". They used the 300 platform, a big 4 door sedan, to make the "Charger".
I used to be a big Mopar fan. I still like the old Mopars from the '60s, but I've been waiting since the eighties for a new RWD, V8 powered coupe from Mopar. I gave up....

It looks more like smoke from drifting, not braking.

Personally, I don't see it. With it's large, gaping grill and crossbarsl, it has styling cues from current Dodge products. Even the headlights echo the design of the current Viper. The only thing I would consider retro are the "hips" and the colors and stripes of the Daytona R/T models. Sorry, I'm just not buying your argument.

Eh. I'm not talking about details like the grille and headlights, I'm talking about the shape of the car. But to each his own, it really doesn't matter I think it is a decent car that should be called something else and costs too much.

That what I was trying to say about the retro look. The design cues being sharper than the rounded look of most cars on the road is what I consider retro. I think the rear quarter panel looks like it took slight cues from the old charger. But I think the front is just plain weird looking.
