Just got an 05' GTO and all I can say is dammmmmn!

It has an ls2 Engine (6.0L) and is pulling over 400hp 400 ft/lbs tq. N/A OFF THE LOT!!!

Not only is it powerful but it is a beauty! And too boot b/c of gas prices rising I got her for the Price of an 05' GT!

The power to weight ratio on a GT = about 12
The power to weight ratio on a GTO = about 9
(Lower is better)

I'm just here to state the facts people. Its up to you to make the "right" decision.

EDIT: BTW It's a 6 speed manual with red leather/suede interior. (sorry for my typing... Its late)

Sorry but that car has no style. It's not interesting or elegant or procative. It sounds like it goes fast which is great, but it's so generic looking.

The good news, hopefully, is that you didn't spend your life's savings like you said you were going to on the GT500. So for that, it wasn't a bad decision. I hope you enjoy your car.

If anyone else is interested, top money for a '05 GTO on ebay is $21K. Great color selection, all three of them. Imagine the profit marging at trading time.

Looks like our disgrunted colleague got a great deal... and a free proctologist visit.

I congratulate it on your Monaro, it is the whole :

The GT500 was not for you ... as him towards you, that good.

Wow. Sad. Sorry, we won't validate your lame purchase no matter how much "power" you have. Moderators, consider getting rid of this tool.

You are right, the GTO is a great car. For $25k I would have made the same decision as yourself, although I would miss the muscle car look of the Mustang.

That said, stop fooling yourself. You didn't get that goat for so cheap because of "rising gas prices," GM is selling them for $10k under MSRP because thats the only way they can get people to buy them.

Sorry buddy that's just wrong - a higher power to weight ratio is what you want, not lower. Definition of Power/Weight Ratio. Perhaps you quoted the weight to power ratio? Anyways, congrats on getting a car you like. I like the GTO and glad to see they are more affordable now. It looks like GM is going to offer there employee discount plan to everyone fairly soon, so we should see more on the streets now.

Yes i did mean to write weight to power.

But either way it does not matter.

The GTO wins both

Think about it... the number represents how many pounds per hp.

The stang gt is about 12 lbs per 1hp. (12lbs x 300hp = aprox weight of car) 3500

For the GTO 9lbs per 1 hp. (9lbs x 400hp = aprox weight of car) 3700

It's simple math... The GTO has 33.33333% more power than the GT and only an extra 5% more weight than a GT.

Also, the way it looks is a personal preference. I personally like the "ram air" look of the hood, and its simple yet muscular design.

The thing is I'm not arguing your opinions but the facts. You get more overall power for the same price.

Numbers are numbers... dont make excuses.

TO BAD THE MUSTANG DOESNT HAVE A VETTE ENGINE IN IT!!!!

You screw up the definition of power/weight ratio and call me a dummy?
Whatever dude.

And if GM does offer the employee plan to everyone...and you got yours for the MSRP price of a GT...then who's the dummy now?
