CHALLENGER MEETS MUSTANG IN THE STREET

Correction:
Michigan manufacturer's plate (not plates). Michigan only requires 1 license plate. In addition, that is the old Michigan blue plate. I'm not sure why he/she is still using it... The OEMs have all switched to the white plates just like the rest of the Michigan drivers.

as a card carrying streetracer i can testify that the charger rt ranks among the easiest cars i've ever raced...no offense to any charger guy here but that car is no match at all for a mustang gt..its as easy as beating a 350z...it falls behind quickly...i dont know why but i've raced a bunch and they all go down quick....
as for the location...yep!!! its crossbay boulevard 2 blocks off aldos on pitkin...but i never really hang out there...too many goodfella wannabees and i always end up having problems...i live closer to mill basin brooklyn although you will see me at the ozone park car shows they hold up by richies

Even stock, it would have been a driver's race. The SRT-8 only does .2 quicker in the 1/4 mile than the GT, with a pricetag $10k higher and worse fuel economy.
It's a absolutely beautiful looking car, but the interior is completely wrong (read:not at all retro nor matches the exterior) and it's way too heavy. Either way, neat run-in.

No way a stock GT is a drivers race with any SRT8. The SRT8 has a pretty decisive advantage over a srock GT as a rule of thumb. I love my GT to the sky, but my SRT8 owned my GT when it was stock. Seems that was proven here when these two ran, and the GT hung with the Challenger on the short sprint, but admittedly the GT owner said the Challenger was capable of getting by him handily if it was anything more than a quick light to light sprint.
I completely agree with you on the Mustang being a better value, and the Challenger interior being a little out of place though.

Mustang is a much better value and the interior of the challenger blows but I still like the styling of it even if it is a boat. As for off the line the gt just needs a tune and it can take the srt8. I drove my friends gt which has nothing but a tune and some decent wheels and totally owned him in his dads srt8 charger. I mean it wasn't even close and we tried multiple rounds because to be honest it didn't seem right. Just fyi.

When I had just my JLT CAI and tune I never ran into a SRT8 on the street. I did run into one on the highway and he pulled on me from a 70mph roll. I have a hard time believing a Stock GT with just cai/tune can take a srt-8 at any speed. Maybe from A roll but I would guess the SRT 8 would pass a GT at the top of second, mid-third...

A simple CAI and canned tune will not be enough to beat an SRT8. It would make it more interesting, but no way are able to routinely beat SRT8's with just those mods. Add a set of gears to the tune and CAI, and I think at that point you have a low 13 second GT that could make a drivers race out of it.

Some people here have a lot of wrong information. To much to even reply to. I will say that the correct answers can be found on the websites dedicated to the challenger and camaro. Hell, Scott S. the VP in charge of the Camaro posts on camaroz28.com. Bob Lutz never said the camaro was limited. And guess what? V6 camaro will have a 6 speed and a 300hp v6. Members on camaroz28.com drove the cars at gm's proving grounds as part of a focus group last weekend. That will equal or better our gts.

ok Gm Camaros is late to the party like always. But you know they wait till they see the numbers on the new Fords and dodges then they top em. But i dont really care for gm but the challanger is kinda growing on me but i will wait for 2010 mustang i doubt if ford does come with 400hp 5.0 it be a force to be reckon with

I like the looks of the Dodge, too. But the rear end just looks wrong to me. I love the hips and the retro mirrors though. I also like the headlights, its a great looking car, and our cars design is a few years old now so we're used to it. The Camaro I'm already tired of, and it really did look better as a show car or in Transformers than it does now. So thats a real let down. Besides it just seems old now.

We can only hope gas prices and the whole "green" thing doesn't make the challenger a one-hit wonder...I know the mustang isnt going anywhere, gas crisis or not, but the challenger...I dunno. Cool car though, I still think I prefer the Mustang.

Exactly what I'm thinkin'. We are almost certainly going to see a rather large weight advantage on behalf of the Mustang GT and we will absolutely see a rather large torque advantage in the Mustang GT's corner....and yet people still talk about how fast this car is going to be compared to the GT. If the weight situation for the V6 Camaro is as bad as it could be it may not even be able to break out of the low 14's.
