Hey everyone!

i have been getting a little uncomfortable in my '02 v6 mustang and looking to get a new car. which would you recommend? I am deciding between the accord coupe, mazda6 (which has a fantastic lease offer going on), and the volvo s40.

all would be leases.

the mazda plan is $230 a month w/ 3K down for 36 months on a mazda6 w/ leather, bose speakers, and whatnot. could I use x plan on that and lower the price even more?

other than that, let me know which one you think would be the best deal!

Mazda. My youngest son has a '05 with 21K miles, not a single problem. Great gas mileage.

oh man, i love the 6

maybe b/c the mazdas we own have never had major problems, and are bot over 100K

the 98 protege has only needed basic mantenence and repair form accidents, 102K and still goin strong

and the 93? the phrase tough as nails comes to mind, but thats just not tough enough for this sucker.

180K miles, and its completely stock. only time it needed help was when the batterdy died and flats and such. great car. 1.8L of FURY!!!! lol

overall, mazda is a great company, and i really like the Mazda6 sharp looking and fun, if you ask me.

so chalk up another vote for the Mazda (which is my favorite Japanese Import, followed by Nissan/Datsun)

I think its going to be the mazda. but does anyone know if I can use my X-Plan through work to lower the lease payments anymore? I'd rather not ask a dealer that question because it'd probably just turn them off from the sale

The $3K seems a bit high. Your ballpark figure is around $12K for 3 years of rent.

You might like to play a little hardball and negotiate some. You might save some bucs. Remember you have to add sales tax to the monthly payments and leases usually require higher insurance coverages making the premiums higher than if you would buy. Also check the annual mileage allowed by the lease, the charges for additional miles beyond the allowance, and the maintenance requirements for the leased vehicle.

Possibly you have good reasons for leasing but you have to be cautious and be completely knowledgeable on the details and fine print on the contract you are about to sign.

If you get the 6 you could close your eyes when you pull the door handle and imagine it's an 05/6 Mustang.

Mazda 6 isn't that little. Its Accord sized.

You're thinking the Mazda 3, I think.

I'm moving this to General Vehicle Discussion. But, I agree with your choice on the 6 (I like 'em myself), and have no answer on the X-Plan.

Have you considered looking at the Fusions? They're pretty cool cars too.

I would go with the 6. Great cars. I would opt for side air bags though for the added safety. Just my .02.

Hey where's Mark when you need him?

Yup, me too.... how bout the sport hatch version?

i personally would go with the wagon, you can just fit sooo much stuff. But if you're coming from a mustang... how the hatch is pretty much a fastback.

Before the mustang came out i was thinking of getting a mazda6. Really nice car. My mom has a accord coupe, also a nice car and good engines but they are kinda bland were the 6 is fun to drive.

Why not a left over '05 Mustang V6? That could be a good deal.

I'm supposing its because he either wants or needs 4 doors, since all come in 4 door flavors.

If not, a V6 'Stang would be a pretty nice choice for around the same price, or maybe even a bit cheaper when loaded comparably.

As a former owner of a Mazda6 I can HIGHLY recommend them. I had mine for nearly 2 years and never had any issues with it. It was the best all around car I've ever owned. My decision to trade it for the Escape (and I agonized over this decision for several weeks) was due to Hurrican Rita. When we evacuated, the car was loaded to brim and we still had to buy a few things due to the extended stay away from home. I had a hard time saying goodbye the day I picked up the Escape.

If I were in the market for another sedan, I'd definitely buy a 6.
