Really. I can't believe that this sort of thing can happen. I'll bet there's a lawyer or two out there that would be happy to look into the ordeal.

Who cares what kind of cars they were. The type of car has no bearing on the law. There is no law that states that just casue you drive one thing your rights will be stripted away.

Not to upset any members of law enforcement, but that quote represents the typical cop mindset.

And what about doing something else that would be more constructive? The last time I checked, there was the war on terror going on; or how about an old-fashion drug raid. I'm sure these would be more constructive than coming down on a bunch of tuner cars.

If they can do this sort of thing to a bunch of tuner guys, whats to stop them from doing the same to us?

This isn't just about a singular event, its about principles and what could come out of events like this. It's like politics. Everything has alot more influence than at first glance, there are ulterior motives, there are unforeseen side effects that could do damage to people who weren't in the target group and the average joes who just want to live their lives are getting screwed.

Am I the only one who's wondering where the droves of lawyers willing to sue the various municipalities of California for this are? Seriously, this seems like at least a class action lawsuit just begging for a go. They finally declared that the jacka$$ laws here in Virginia were unconstitutional that targeted only Virginia residents as a "revenue source." Independent studies are bringing to light the problem that red light cameras don't, in fact, save lives or stop traffic accidents, they just generate money. My point being that in the act of trying to stop one street racing, law enforcement cannot just "justify" anything they want. You do the time for the crime, not giving the appearance that you "could" do the crime. They normally call that "profiling" and it's unconstitutional.

Anytime state and local government views public safety as a revenue source, safety loses. We lose. I say generate money in different ways and let the cops do their jobs instead of becoming cashiers.

Exactly!

What they did was clearly pure arbitrariness! If it starts there, where will it end?
