When MT starts to write well and actually offer their critical opinions I will start to read their mag. I can't stand buying an issue with a shootout in it between 2 cars, or a grouping, only to read the closing paragraph claiming that all the cars are winners in their own right, and you have to look to your needs to see what fits.... Blah Blah Blah.....
I want to see a winner. Not two nice cars photographed well. I want expertise and critical analysis.
Imagine watching Ebert and Roper only for them to say, Ehhh, they were all good in their own rights....
I think they are moving in the right direction, but their writing and wit will never match that of Car and Driver....

comparisons of just about anything can never be super quantitative like that. There are so many different aspects that make a car good. Some people value some aspects better than others. So instead of telling you how these cars do in terms of these aspects and letting you decide whats more important to you, you'd rather them attribute their own weighting? Sounds like you don't really wanna do any thinking, dude, you just wanna be spoon fed!
No, not spoon fed, but given a real analysis yes. These older reviews would always just kiss both, or all the butts of all the cars and their makers, just to save collective publication face. MT is never ballsy enough to actually call someone out for designing a poor car or putting up poor numbers. They sugarcoat everything and, as I already stated, beat around the bush when it comes to saying one car is better than the other.
I can make my mind up about a car just as much as the next guy, but reading MT is pretty much just an hour of looking at pretty pictures with some idiot saying in a dual that both cars are good and go make up your own mind. I can do that already without the pictures and lame attempts at sarcasm and wit.
Seriously, from a writing standpoint, these writers are poor, have no judgement, and as a magazine are too afraid to call a manufacturer out for making a poor product. They never, ever, ever provide an educated, unbiased and deliberate winner or outstanding product in a comparo. That to me makes them as good as the spec sheets you can get from in the internet regarding the cars outputs and specs. They are edmunds.com and nothing more, yet they masquerade around as some kind of automotive authority that knows more than everyone else yet are afraid to say it.... They are crap.
