They'll of course redesign the body/interior, so it would be premature to call it ugly. However, a smaller and lighter platform can only mean good things for performance as the current Camaro is a bit on the pudgy side.
Now if all three pony cars could get down to the 3200-3400lb range, that would be ideal and not unrealistic. That would be a small stretch for the Stang (~200lbs) but a bigger one for the Camaro (300-400lbs) but a long stint at the fat farm for the Challenger (600+ lbs)

I could deal with the 3400-3600 range and be very happy with it especially with a 426+ HP V8 in it. The 4th gen's were in that range with much less power and are still viable. 400+ horses and 3500 lbs would be fun.

I hope this starts a "weight reduction war" among the Pony cars - heck, among all American cars. Tired of seeing ever-increasing vehicle weights due to all the ICE/safety features being added.

So long as there's a v6 contingent, even "if" they had that much say so in day to day affairs, I doubt that would happen.
