2014 camaro ls7 option

well im sure yall dont care to much about it but since i came from a camaro im still interested and thought i would share this with you guys. heres the dealer vin card and it shows that theres suppose to be a ls7 option for the 2014 camaro's.
the ls7 is a 505hp 7.0L engine that gm puts in the z06 corvette.

Don't see it happening, unless they're planning a special edition, maybe a Z-28 for the last model year of that body.

im sure it would be a special edition. since the corvette is going all direct injected engines for 2014 i guess they need something to put the ls7 in.

Would be interesting for sure.

The only issue I see with it is that with 505 Horsepower an LS7 Camaro would be pushing dangerously close to ZL1 territory for (I'm assuming) significantly less money. I wonder if we'll see a 600+ hp ZL1 to widen the gap a little?

highly doubt it will be 600+ but i think there will be a slight improvement to the hp in the zl1. also the ls7 is 505 hp in the vette but probably will be a little less in the camaro just like the ls3 is 426hp in the camaro and 430hp in the vette and 436hp with dual mode exhaust in the vette. if the zl1 is going to be 600+ then it would probably be the ls9 engine instead of the lsa which is in them now.

Which would make more than a little sense. The LS7 just sitting there on Chevy's parts shelf ready to drop in, so to speak, and making a Z-28, akin to the Mustang Boss's, would be a great way to keep interest up in the current chassis. I would suspect that were this come to be, that the ZL-1 would certainly be bumped up to match the GT500's hp numbers, Which, as the Vette ZR-1 shows, could readily be done. Then the LS7 motor would slot in quite naturally as it does in the Vette lineup.

Well the LS7 is being phased out and production is ending on it, and they already have a Boss fighter, the 1LE. And the ZL-1 probably isn't going to be bumped up to GT500 numbers. That would require an engine change to the LS9 and probably re-certification for EPA and other federal standards to be used in the Camaro. Probably not going to happen for a one year run, not to mention it would drive up the cost of the ZL-1, and they're not going to step on the Corvette toes.

i dont think they will put the ls9 in the zl1 camaro. they spent way to much time redesigning the lsa engine for use in the zl1 camaro. if anything they will put the ls7 engine in with ~490hp. the ls7 is a great engine for people looking to mod. producing 800+ hp by just putting a supercharger on it.

That's just the opposite of what I've heard, the LS3 is the more mod friendly engine and the LS7 is a ticking time bomb with forced induction.

ls7 can hold about 700-750rwhp before it needs forged internals and then ls3 can hold about 650rwhp before it needs forged internals. the ls7 can get around 600rwhp with just heads and a cam.

The LS7 is the more expensive engine, the LSA (ZL1 motor) was designed to replace the LS7 at a cheaper price point. Anything with the same content as the ZL1 sans LSA would be more expensive so the only way to beat the ZL1 on price would be a decontented model ala' 1LE or SS type car with the LS7.

In any event I'm sure as others have speculated this would be an SE so while its performance envelop might approach or exceed the ZL1 it wouldn't be an issue.

Especially if its only being offered in limited numbers for a limited time.

Tru'dat, the block IIRC is the achilles heel since GM went to the extreme in bore to get to the LS7's 427 cubes.

Double bonus, this will be the last of the canadian Camaros as F6 production will switch to Lansing Michigan along side the ATS as thats where the next gen Camaro will get its bones.
