Good to see Ford Lincoln Mercury are all below industry average. I'm pretty suprised though at Porsche; they were usually up at the top spot. Still good to see Fords doing a lot better than past years.

How can Mercury be at 151 and Ford at 204 when they're essentially identical vehicles?

Something smells with this "dependability" survey.

Because Mercury doesn't have Focus or any trucks.

Finish the sentence: '...to pull its reliability ratings down.' Yeah, I thought about that myself. Nor does Mercury have Mustang.

Still, it's hard to believe F-150, Mustang and Focus are that poorly received by customers that they would account for that much disparity between the two marques.

Ford is still doing pretty well, they're still above average.

And according to that article that I posted today about F-100 warranty costs are down by $1.2 billion in the past 18 months.

There are other reasons too why Mercury is doing pretty well such as owner's age. Most of Mercury's owners are older people and they take a better care of their vehicles than younger people. After all, that's how Buick got the 6th place.

Yeah, but isn't that dependability study just the first three years? You could beat on your car all day long and not necessarily encounter any problems in only the first three years of ownership.

I had my Mustang for 7 years and these days I'm experiencing my first issues with that car (brakes, I have to replace front calipers).

Whatever other gripes I might have about Ford, they do seem to be screwing them together quite nicely, which is a huge plus.

Now if they'd only start screwing together some nicer cars...
