Its not so much the CEO's I care about, but the middle class workers like me that I don't want to see lose their jobs.

Ain't that the truth. I remember when Lee Ioccoca went to to the gov with hat in hat for a bailout and got it. Times have changed.

But it galls me me when I hear our so called leaders saying that US automakers have to learn how to compete. Everything else has gone offshore. Please tell me the US auto market is not next.

And kudos to Hyundia. They have figured out how to make a quality car at a decent price.

Too many models that are essentially the same: Ford 500 & Mercury Montego. Ford Escape, Mazda Tribute, and Mercury Mariner. Add the new Fusion, Lincoln Milano, and Mercury (can't remember the name) to the Mazda 6. Does anyone need that many choices? Ford F-150 or Lincoln LT?

Time to cut the fat! Go lean before the market forces do even more damage.

GM needs to cosolidate brands even more than recently announced.

Just read in USA Today that Moody's said they will likely in the near future rate Ford the same as GM - junk bond status.

Sensationalist journalism at its finest

I doubt it. You're not giving Ford enough credit, they are coming back, slowly but surely. GM just really messed up with all of the problems in reliability that they have been having in the past few years and are now just starting to realize it.

Ford on the other hand has already begun the process of building better and better vehicles

There was a scare a month or so back, but that passed. GM didn't fair as well as they were rated as a "junk bond" per se. But I think they will come out of that in a while.
