X-plan in Canada
#1
I am new to posting on these forums but have been reading and getting mustang "fever" for months now. Now that I am about to buy a 2005/2006 mustang I had a few questions about x-plan in Canada.
1)If I get an x-plan code from the US does it work in Canada or do I need a Canadian code?
2) x-plan is Invoice + 4% correct?
3) What is the best way of obatining a pin, or better yet does anyone have an extra they could send me.
4) Is there any way to bargain with the dealer to get it lower than x-plan cost?
(I would really appreciate it)
Thanks to those who answer.

1) I don't know
2) Xplan is 2% over dealer invoice
3) Best way of obatining a PIN is finding a friend who works for Ford of Canada, there are a few people here that can give out pins, maybe they'll chime in.
4) I managed to get below xplan pricing because I had a grad rebate that I used. You will have a tough time talking them that low on their hottest product. Call some dealers up and give it a shot.
By the way, welcome to the site dave

X plan is 2% over dealer invoice. You have to call Ford Corporation directly for the PIN Number that they will assigned to you after you divulged where you work and your occupation. They will also ask you what dealership you are buying the car from.

I still have PIN #'s left for x-plan if you're interested. Just pm me and I'll let you know how it works.
And yes, it must be a canadian PIN#.

ps-not sure what the savings are on x-plan, all I do know is a-plan is dealer cost (according to the paperwork Ford gave me)

Ok, this is right off the Ford a/x/z plan website, for the curious:
CANADA NON-EMPLOYEE PURCHASE PLAN
(X-PLAN) POLICY
Pricing
X-PLAN pricing is 4% over the Ford A-PLAN price, which is the dealer's net price.
X-PLAN sales are also eligible for any applicable retail incentives.
Leasing for Ford and Volvo products is available through Ford Credit Red Carpet Leasing and Volvo Car Financial Services Canada only, no other leasing sources are allowed.

I could use a hand getting a pin as I was told by my work that there wouldnt be a problem getting it and now with a change of company name an holders etc its gonna take a bit but my car is due to arrive in 2 weeks or so. I told the dealer I would have a pin for when the car arrived and I cant get it anymore from my work. Id hate for them to say no pin no car or that I would have to pay a higher price. Could anyone help me on this or point me in the direction.
I actually work at a plant that builds parts for Ford trucks but seems that untill everything is official at my work they wont be able to get the pin to me.

X-Plan is 4% over dead cost plus $100.
To calculate take MSRP less Freight and Air Tax times 2% - this is holdback.
Take the Vehicle Invoice less the Holdback plus $100 Ford Handling Fee then add 4%.
The X-Plan price is also printed on the Vehicle Invoice
There are two types of X-Plan, but the calculation is the same.
Friends and Neighbours X-Plan is sponsored by any Full-Time Ford Employee or Retiree (not a contract worker).
Partners in Quality X-Plan is for suppliers and organizations approved by Ford. This is eligible for the Employee/Member or spouse, no referrals.
On claiming of the X-Plan, Ford pays the dealer 2% of the dead cost to bring the total proceeds for the dealer to 6%.
I am sure if you cannot get the X-Plan PIN, the dealer would sell you the car at the 2% extra to give them the same mark up that they would make on the X-Plan.
Also note the X-Plan or A/Z-Plan program states the dealer cannot charge an Administration Fee, so that should be waived.

Ok, I just checked my status at the Ford AXZ site.....I have 3 PIN's left for 2005. Now, one thing I do want to make clear is that you DO NOT need an x-plan PIN until you actually pick up the car.....you can place an order without a PIN. It takes a matter of minutes to generate a number, so there's no need to panic until the last day.
Those who have pm'd me, just contact me a day or two before you plan on actually buying the car, and I'll get you a number then.
