I was wondering if the hood on the GT 2005 could be in plastic. If you knock on it, it really sounds like plastic. I have the same feeling with the side door.

It is possible that Ford is now using some plastic or fiberglass in the new mustang body parts?

 

Indeed Ricky.....the hood is made out of fiberglass....but as for the doors, i think they're still metal.......for safety measures i suppose.....

 

Isn't the hood aluminum on the '05's

 

Gray Beard Gt saw it in Nashville at the MCA show...the hoods are aluminium

 

I were under the impression that they were made out of the same fiberglass as the '99's and up.....oh well, good thing they're aluminium now, so they don't have to change the hood when the car in involved in an accident....before, and this happened to a couple of my buddies, they simply replace the damaged hood completely....didn't even try to fix it....my '88 is made out of metal....

 

The hoods definately are aluminum. It is easy to tell, just remove one of the windshield washer jets and you can see it flex, also you can see all the welds underneath the hood.

At least it is suppose to be. That's what I read on ford's site a while back!
