Just modify Galaxie's Maple Syrup brake fluid.

That will save a ton on research and development.

And you won't have to remove the pits!

Is this the stuff in the Red bottle? I went to get some at the dealer here on Saturday, and they were asking $15.something a bottle. Needless to say, I bought the regular oil.

 

Oil changes cost me like $90 with oil + filter. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eek.gif[/img] Oil alone is like $60. Even if you do it yourself it will cost you $70.

Anyone who can get the oil for cheaper.....let me know [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

But I switched to the CXO 5w20 LFS12. Car started great all winter.

If you guys are using Mobil, or at least Exxon/Esso products, look up NOCO Lubricants. They have a warehouse that's open to the public, where you can buy cases of oil for cheaper (or barrels if that's your thing). You have to place an order over the phone in order for the guys in the warehouse to get it for you, but they have a house phone in reception you can use, and then you walk over to the warehouse and the guys will get it from the stock there. I used to get my 0w40 Euro Formula there at about $42/box of 6 1L bottles, when the stuff usually cost about $13/L in normal stores.

They have bad hours, but it's worth it. They are located next to the Ikea in Etobicoke, underneath that bridge.

EDIT: it's funny, I'm enjoying the cheapness of the oil changes on the stang vs. my old A4...oil filters at dealer cost (courtesy of my BF) and Esso Dino oil at ~$20 total. Use Dino oil until 10,000kms, and you'll save money too... ahh the white van is coming [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/panic.gif[/img]

Hey that's pretty cool that they stock it. I guess $49/6L is an alright price, esp considering it's the only place that carries it.

Nope, above it looks like mstang was the one that said it - wouldn't it say on the bottle there? I was the one that said Motomaster's Dino Oil is the made by Esso - so they are the same.


There's a lot of mystery to the art of oil - who knows really...

Well, for the only two synthetic oil changes so far, I've had them done at the dealer. I'll see if I can get a look at the bottle next time.

 

When I had my oil change done at whiteoak, I was told the motorcraft oil was made by castrol. That was the regular 5W20.

And I happened by WalMart today, to see if they had Mobil 1 in 5W20 yet. They didn't, but the price on the weights they did have was only $48.48 for a sixpack. Perhaps by my next change they'll have the correct weight stocked.

The local Walmart in my part of Texas just started carrying the 5W20 within the last month. I find it kind of amusing since the only place they produce Mobil1 in the western hemisphere (and there are actually only two facilities worldwide) is about 15 miles up the road.

That's the thing, I don't think regular retailers will carry the 5w20, now or in the future. It's not listed on the Canadian Mobil 1 website so technically it doesn't exist in the Canadian market. NOCO is an industrial supplier so they would likely carry everything Mobil/Esso/Exxon carries, regardless of whether it's available in retailers around Canada. It's the same story for the Mobil 1 0w40 Euro Formula I used to use. It wasn't available in stores, the only place you could get it was at NOCO or some Mercedes Dealerships (MARKUP $$$). I think Porsche places would carry it as well, since Porsche's are factory filled with the stuff.

Anyways, you can always call Mobil 1 Canada to see if they will distribute it here in retailers/Esso stations in the near future, but your best bet will probably be NOCO.

FWIW, my initial purchase was made at Lordco, a BC based automotive retailer. While the price posted ealier was very good, it was no better than Wally's, and the additional charge for shipping to BC would likely erode any potential savings. I expect it's only a matter of time before more retailers stock it.
