Any Leads on a Jr/Entry Level Engineer in West GTA?
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to see if there was anyone had any leads for a Jr/Entry Level mechanical engineer?
I've been out of school for about 3 years now, unfortunatley the jobs I've been working at have been very very entry level, where I can't get any experience or be mentally stimulated. I've done well at interviews, but have missed out on a few positions because of lack of experience, which everyone seems to want, but not be willing to teach.
If anyone knows of a company who would be willing to give me a shot, i'd be greatful. I'm a hard worker and eager to learn.
I'm not picky, but a job on the west end would be great, i've worked in automotive and would prefer something different.
Thanks guys
PS For any help, i'll gladly take you out to dinner, or buy booze or both,

It is a but too far for you, but i only want to say... keep with it, you are earning an awesome degree by anyones scale, and the job will come eventually

Keeping checking often and submit resumes online. I'm in the east, but they have plenty of stuff out west.

Hey Steve,
Man, if it were Electrical engineering I could've probally gotten you an interview with my grandparent's company. Its mainly computer stuff so I dont think theres any mechanical stuff involved. Ive actually considered some type of engineering for my future education and it interests me so I'd like to help you out if I could. Have you considered looking into like mechanical aspects of aerospace companies (engines or what not) ? I think that some of the big companies have facilities near Pearson. I'll look around and see if I can dig anything up.

Ill go down to my HR dept on Monday and see what they have posted up there and take the info on anything available, usually have posting for the whole province so there may be somehing up your alley there. Ill let ya know if anything pops up
I can't help you, but I hope you're able to find what your looking for soon. I'm taking my first year of engineering this fall and am thinking I'll get into mechanical engineering, I'm still not sure yet. I think I'll do the Co-op program so that I can get a little experience before I leave, but I've got a couple more years to decide.
Just curious, but why didn't you like automotive? and what would your dream job be?

I love cars and would love to be in an environment where I could contribute to the process. The problem is, with automotive getting smaller and smaller, its hard to get a good job at a good company (besides, any really good R&D stuff is in Detroit). The suppliers are sweatshops.
My ideal job for me is close to home, where I am challenged, the industry doesn't matter anymore. I just want a job where I have a future.
Mark,
PM/email me if you have any leads
Steve,
Had any luck on the job hunt? I figured out that Pratt and Whitney has a Mississauga location. I except them to do week in the next decade or so, they've developed a new small engine that you can fit under your arm for small executive commuter planes. They expect that market to increase in the near future. Just a suggestion.
Good luck man.

Colin,
Pratt is really tough to get into, they usually take their own co-op students, guys who've done Thesis or Master's projects for them... thanks for the reminder though
Mark, thanks for keeping an eye out
