Stay positive - My friend's wife had a teratoma on her ovary about a year ago and she came through it just fine.

America's top 10 shrinking cities

3. Cleveland
  • [*]
The loss of steel and heavy manufacturing jobs in the past several decades has drained this city: It now has 45% of the population it had in the 1950s.
Some of the population loss came from the 42% decline in manufacturing employment between 1992 and 2002. And some of this decline can be attributed to sprawl, as people moved out of the city, taking businesses with them.
Cleveland's inner ring of neighborhoods suffered even more in the foreclosure crisis, leaving one in every five houses in Cleveland vacant in 2008. Now the city has developed a plan to deal with this blight, and urban farms, parks and other green spaces are starting to bloom. (Learn more about Cleveland’s redevelopment efforts in this article.)

Hey Glenn,
Cleveland is just the same as most Midwest manufacturing cities. It ain't no better down here where I am. And if I remember correctly less than a year ago you guys were way down and your wife was off from work. The manufacturing losses to the country are way bigger than most of us really understand is my belief. If we were to have a WWIII we would have to have China build our tanks, planes and bombs....etc!!!

On a different note....Hey Tom. I won't be making it up to Brenspeeds dyno day this Saturday. I have to work and the weather (snow flurries) looks pretty sucky for a 7 hour round trip in the Stang. Sorry! Maybe in the spring.

Glenn, I agree with those facts..... the city has seen alot of decline. But then again, 100 years ago it was like the 5th largest city in the country. In 1950, the popuation was about 915,000. The biggest thing that I've noticed so far is that many, many people have moved outside of the city limits and in particular, outside of the county of Cuyahoga (where the city is) because of the high taxes. We're one of those, looking to locate just outside of the county.

Hey Scott, no worries about this weekend...... thanks for giving me the notice. We're hoping for an offer on our home this week, if it proves out then I'll just spend the weekend with corrugated boxes, packing material, and tape, LOL! ((crosses fingers and hopes))

Anyone else planning on going??

Wow weird to see Dayton, Ohio on that list.... Dayton is about 2 hours from my home in Indiana and has always had the reputation around here as a "nice" city and a good place to be around. That's not dramatically far from Scott's part of the world either.

Good Luck Tom! I Sold my place last week and we are moving to the Elkhart area in next month. It sure is nerve-racking selling a house in this housing climate, but we made it!

-not going to Breenspeed, gotta work. however... my new house will be about 20 minutes closer to Brenspeed!

Dayton was and I say "was" the largest tool and die or mold making area in the United States in the 80's and 90's. There was over 400 shops in the area. If you got pissed at work today you just went down the street, got a $1 raise and said **** on them. That was the good old days. 50% of those shop are now gone. The 50% remaining are at least 50% smaller than were in the early 2000's. This area really has shipped it's manufacturing jobs south of the border or half way around the world in the last 20 years!

makes me want to puke importing stuff we could make here WTF. If obanga wanted to create jobs, some of his bail out cash should have went to reopen a few steel mills or the like. Raise import taxes so we can compete for our jobs.

Nope, the family interested in our home is having trouble with financing (go figure)..... but they're still looking at other options. Just sucks having limited time with the kids and the wife. Plus I'm getting kinda bored of the hotel I'm in... Extended Stay Hotel in Westlake.
