Dunno how I missed him, and how he didnt run into the side of my car, because I saw him in the rearview keep running across the lane right behind my car.

Here's a good one for you. A few of my co-workers recently tried to go off-roading in their trucks and got stuck in a creek near work. Another co-worker brought his Expedition out there to try and pull the two trucks out, and he got stuck. Now O'Hare Towing is having a very hard time getting all three of their trucks out, they were pretty far off the road. Even a bobcat got stuck trying to get them out.
O'HareI love that show

At the time I was going to NC State University, which is in Raleigh, about 2.5 hours from my house. The day after Labor Day 2007 I got up about 3 am so I could get ready and drive to Raleigh to be in class at 8. I had a 1991 Nissan King Cab pickup, with 281,000 miles. Awesome little truck. I get on the dark interstate, called my mother to let her know I was on the road, saw a cop pass me (nearly hit me,while on his computer)...

I get from I-95 exit 169 to 181, when I looked down and my temp guage was pegged waaaay past hot. Damnit! So I coast up an offramp, knowing that the truck would cut off if I got too slow, was going to run the Stop sign, saw a car coming and had to slow down...truck cut off, steam pouring from under the hood. I sit there with my flashers going for probably about 15 minutes. Get the truck cooled off enough to start her up, and turn the corner to ride the hill down to the gas station/truck stop. Pull in at 430. Called my dad, who said wait a while, drive it back home to the mechanic. So I go in, get breakfast, then fill the coolant tank back up with water, and hightail it home, it didnt overheat again, so I kinda figured that it was just out of water the first time, got to the mechanic anyway about 730. Waited on him until 815, we checked my car right and left. Didnt see anything wrong, let it run for a while, and I even drove it around a little bit, no more overheating, so he gives me the go ahead, and off I go, leaving Interstate exit 169...got to 191, and she overheats on me again. At this point it's probably 11 in the morning, about 95 degrees, and here I am, in nice clothes pushing my car down the highway into a gas station. Wait there, cools off, get back on the interstate, leave exit 191 get back to 181, overheats again...exit 175, same deal, rest stop on 171, exit 170, exit 169. It's about 4 in the afternoon and hotter than the blazes of hell. I tried to get back on the interstate for the last mile, and halfway up the ramp she goes dead...I say f this, and call a tow truck. Didnt even get out, just waited. He comes over, and goes, I think I see your problem...big puddle of oil and water on the ground...

Got a ride from a friend of my dad's back to my house, got the other car, go over to the mechanics...he thinks it's a blown head gasket, I'm so mad I didnt really care. The truck wasnt driveable...and the spare car (84 CJ7) isnt good for interstate miles, much less 2.5 hours of it. So I drive the 1.5 hours to my mom's and swap her for her minivan (ugh...), finally get home around 10pm, to get up again the next day at 3; to be in class from 8 am to 9 pm.

A few weeks ago, I finally got to work on the truck in my uncles shop. We determined that the cylinders had finally wore a hole through to the water jacket, and f'd that motor silly. Carnage below.... there was even oil/water in the throttle body and air filter!

looks like just a gasket or two and that engin will be as good as new Dave..
My blown engine story.
Why back when I had a 67 firebird with a 350 cheby engine in it. It develeloped a rod knock. I figured I would try and throw it out the side of the block and went for a ride. It was a qt or two low on oil and darn near empty on water. Wound it up as far as it would wind in every gear 4 speed stick. It finaly dies at a place we all use to meet to drink and hang out. I waited about an hour and it started back up. Back around the block which was about a 5 mile trip. I lived out in the sticks. Any way after doing that several times waiting for it to die and then beating the chit out of it when I got it started again. Dam thing never tossed that rod.
What a lame story Eh lol

Update on my co-workers stuck trucks, O'Hare Towing couldn't get the trucks out, they spent a lot of time getting their bobcat out and gave up, wanted more money to try again the following day. My co-workers called someone else who had a couple of 4wd tow trucks, and today they got all 3 vehicles out. It took a lot of work to do it though, they had to use wood boards to prevent their vehicles from sinking into the mud.

Oh, and my co-workers told O'Hare Towing they wanted a discount in order to bring the cameras around, and they said no to the discount, so the cameras weren't there.
