We will be vacationing in San Diego this April and staying on Coronado Island. Is it safe to take our '07 GT/CS into town and park in the garages for a full day? Are there many thefts or car burglaries? We are thinking about the Old Town area, and Gaslight district. Maybe Petco Park. Any advice or concerns would be appreciated. We have never been to the area before. If you feel it would be better to just keep our car on the island and take other modes of transportation into town, please say so. We will be there for 4 days. Thanks in advance!

Mustangs are a dime a dozen out here. You'll be in some pretty nice areas.

I live in La Jolla, which is a ritzy part of San Diego. A Mustang GT out here is a completely average car. I live right by a Ferrari and Maserati dealership. I street park my car every day (since we don't have a garage) and it's perfectly fine. I never take my car into downtown San Diego just because there is never anywhere to park. We just take the trolley or my beater car (Saturn SL1) instead.

 

Appreciate it mrp5150. Sometimes we value our own cars a bit too high when compared to the exotics that roam out there.
Thanks for the tip on the parking too. I figured we wouldn't be driving to downtown.
