Anything going on in the Southeast Texas area for this weekend?

 

Lot going on in Conroe area. Saleen meet n all. I ddnt hear anything in southeast. I live in clear lake, today there is regular car show in lowes at pearland parkway.

 

I'm stationed down in Corpus Christi and I've been looking for something to do with my mustang in this part of the state. I feel like not much goes on here but maybe I'm not looking in the right places for Mustang gatherings and whatnot. I've been looking for open track days within 3-4 hours of here or so. I've never officially been to one before but I enjoy road racing a lot. Not really into drag racing at all. Not my thing.

Theres a good amount of folks that hit Vicks drive through on Ayers with a huge variety. Theres usually a group of people at the A&W on staples and saratoga on saturday nights. Classics, new, bland, exotic theyre around.

 

Thanks. Ill have to try and check that out. I wish there were some open track days around. I'd be willing to drive as far as Houston or Austin for one. I look at some of the other regions and they have tons of them.

 

I think i remember hearing the old airfield on waldron had some auto-x days but i hvnt seen anyone or heard of any actual event there.

 

Yeah the scca still runs out there once a month. Id like to to try it. Been trying to find track days at the bigger road courses. Up in houston I know there's a couple tracks. I just don't know if they ever have any mustang or car events. I know people that go to sport bike track days there.

Ive been lookin for mustang track days or just track days in general that arent much further than the houston area. I just try and get my days off scheduled right

 

Yeah I'd love for it to be a track day on a real road course. I'd definitely like to try autocross but I really want to go to a real road course.

 

Btw do you know of any good performance shops in Corpus Christi? I've got longtube headers and an OR-X pipe coming this week and I'm throwing around the idea of doing it myself at the auto shop on base or bringing it to a shop that quoted me 450 for the install. I'm still not sure whether I want to attempt this. Everyone says its not that bad but idk. Unbolting motor mounts and starters makes me nervous because I don't want to mess anything up. So far I've been quoted 450 and 750 to install everything. I just don't know if I want to mess with it. Saving 500 bucks would be nice though.

 

I went to IIRC Franks muffler shop to get my borlas put on my 02 gt. They got it done in just shy of an hour and it was pretty cheap. Id have to look em up though cuz that was a few years ago

 

Yeah I'm trying to talk myself into just trying to do it myself and save 450 bucks on the install.
