Bagdad Arizona Run, Sunday April 15th.
Bagdad Arizona Run, Sunday April 15th.
Come and join the members of 2005stang.com for one of the most scenic and fun mountian driving experiences in the southwest.
This is a short day trip that requires no more than 1 tank of gas and lasts roughly 4 hours including a stop in Bagdad at the Miners Diner.
The route takes us up route 60/93 out of Phoenix to Wickenburg then to route 89 to Congress. We stop here to pick up our friends from northern Arizona and then head up the Yarnell grade into Yarnell and the picturesque Peeples Valley. We continue on 89 to Yavapai County 15 onward to state route 98 for some really great twisty mountain action to Bagdad.
We stop in Bagdad for lunch at the Miners Diner, then the peak of the trip is the 20 mile section of road known as state route 97. This is a very quick, twisty, dippy section of road that's a virtual roller coaster. At the end of this stretch is a huge turnout area where we commonly stop for a breather from the rollercoaster ride and a little burnout action
Here's some pics from a previous "Bagdad Run".
Parked at the Diner, our own little carshow for the public!

Burnout action after lunch and the 20 mile rollercoaster ride.

The carnage

So come and join us!
We meet at the Starbucks at Bell Rd and Grand Ave in Surprise (Behind the Bank of America) at 9:00am and leave no later than 9:45am from there on our way to Congress to pick up our northern Arizona friends.
Hope to see you there. For any changes to our schedule please visit the "Roundups" Forum at 2005stang.com
