You need to clarify this with one of the MCA directors so he'll stop telling people this. I'll be calling him today to let him know the rules.

Is it possible to swap over to a judged class from a display class? I guess that's my next question.

Thanks, Doug.
Doug,

Just a stupid question, but when you spoke with Steve, were you talking about any show in particular? Do you know what Steve's last name is? I can try to get through for you to see if we can get you switched from display to judged. For some reason, it seems that a few people have been misinformed and as a result, are going to miss out on being judged.

Yes, I spoke with Steve McCarley, regional Director, because I was thinking about having a display booth. Then when he told me that cars 3 years old and newer couldn't be in the show but on display only that took away from my main customer base so I didn't sign up as a vendor but only as a display car in the roush corral.

Please contact me and let me know what to do to sign up as a judged car, I would really like to be in the judging. 205-302-0231

Thanks, Doug.

Doug, I talked to Steve. Unfortunately due to the large volume of vehicles that are registered and the need to order appropriate numbers of awards, etc., they can't switch anyone from Display to Judges. Apparently, there was a miscommunication regarding judging for this 30th Celebration versus judging for normal MCA Shows. You see, the 30th is a celebration and they are allowing addtional classes for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 that normally would not be allowed. On a regular basis, MCA's differentiates between "Concourse" and all the other classes with specific criteria for each. If you enter a regular MCA National or Grand National Show, there are classes for the newer cars -- but they are judged by participant vote. The Concourse classes take a couple of hours to judge each vehicle and to be in that your vehicle must be at least 10 years old. All the other classes require that your vehicle be at least 3 years old. This levels the playing field for everyone and allows all model years to be judged on some sort of basis. In Concourse judging you are basically only competing against yourself. It is a points based system where you have to have a certain number of points to receive a Gold, so many for a Silver, etc. There can be several Golds, several Silvers, etc. For the classes that are not Participant Vote, it too is on a points system but you are actually competing against the other vehicles entered in your class. The 30th Celebration has the typical Concourse judging, but for all the other classes, there will simply be Judges Choice awards and a total of 5 awards per class. If they are doing this the same as the 40th in Nashville, the awards will not be ranked, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. They will simply be the top 5 in the class. Hope this info helps. Looking forward to meeting you at the 30th! Remember, this is a Celebration and should be a ton of fun. Hopefully that new storm that is brewing out in the Carribean won't come our way, huh?

Well gang, hopefully all of the problems have now been resolved, and the winner of the trip to MCA's 30th is.........................

My Blue and Chamois 1978 Mustang II Ghia:

Here is a pic of my family (daughter just got married in June of this year):

Attachment 7915

So it will be, my hubby and son all squished into the '78. Don't worry though, we made it to the 40th in Nashville in this same car and was packed in like sardines and bought new carpet (still haven't installed it yet), and brought it back with the luggage and car cleaning crap and made it.

Can't wait to see everyone!

Did we ever definitely figure out how the TMS members are going to Id each other?
I only know know what Brad and Tommy look like.
And its not so much easy as to say I will be the girl there since I won't be the only one - just the only one with the distinctive yellow car with the snakes and ponies on it.

April,
You mean that you have not gotten your TMS barcode tattoo yet?

That allows us to be "scanned" for identity, knowledge of subject, etc.

Besides, name tags would end up being falsly labeled.

The tattoo shop in alabaster is open till midnight, you still have time.

Ask for the Scothew/TDS code set, they will fix you up.

Did any of you register for the Saturday night banquet? Is that being held at the host hotel? Does anyone know what the time frame is for that event and what the attire is? I mean, is the event supposed to be something nice or is it totally casual and wear shorts and a t-shirt?

Well with Ernesto out there, and no one knowing what it's going to do yet, I am officially on the fence. This is so utterly unbelievable. I've looked forward to this event since it was first conceived (the TMS meet). I'll be making my final decision Wednesday night. Dave (Burke0011) and I are on the same page. Perry I left you a message on your cell - call me tonight at home regardless of how late it might be. I'll conference you in with Dave.
