Hi guys - thought I'd post another Mustang model. This one is a '68 California Special that I finished up earlier this year.
It's built primarily from three AMT kits: the '66 hardtop (for the top and trunk lid); the '67 fastback (for the nose and hood); and the '68 Shelby (for the side panels, trunk lip, and tail lights). The wheels are from the Revell '69 Mach I, and other various odds and ends are from my parts boxes. The decals are from Keith Marks.
The blinker hood was cut from the standard '67 hood and the radio antena is an electric guitar string. I also scratch-built an A/C system (including interior vents); and had to build most of the rear seat from sheet styrene. The engine is fully wired and plumbed, and ready to fire up!
The color I was going for is 1968 Seafoam Green. It's just always been one of my favorites! The color coat is Krylon satin finish, followed with DupliColor clear coat. It's been wet-sanded and polished to a nice gloss. The black vinyl top is 2" wide masking tape painted black. Seemed to be a nice match for the black GT/CS stripes.

Thanks guys! This was one of those on and off projects while others were being completed. I probably worked on it for a couple of years. As for the green - I mainly chose it because it's a '68-only color. I thought it was very fitting for a '68-only car! Plus, I'm just partial to any pastel. I'm currently working on a copy of the Tropical Turquoise '65 fastback I used to own... the ultimate pastel!

Red Star: it's a combination of traditional styrene (plastic) 1:24 scale model kits. The metal kits often lack the detail of the plastics (although they've come a long way); and can't really be altered at all. All three of the kits I used are currently on the store shelves.

Danny, that's the finest example of a 1:24th near-scratch built I've ever seen of a GT/CS! Not being as hip to the the correct terminology, and with all the custom work you did, I'd label it scratch built. The vinyl top looks super! :worship:
