Got a dealer to accept X-plan on my 06 GT Vert (after looking in 100 mile Radius from SF Bay Area for a while). Got VOC (06/22/05) faxed to me, dated and signed, with a note saying my x-plan price would be right around $31K (MSRP being around $33K ).

Now 3 weeks later after putting pressure on them to get an official written agreement signed by manager, suddenly dealer says he will sell only at MSRP.

Oh boy... :bang:

At that time I could not see any alternate solution (this is the only dealer who replied to me saying he would accept X-plan) so I agreed to it reluctantly

Now I see so many people on this forum having an 06 order on X-plan that I am having second thoughts: maybe I just didn't try hard enough?

o should I be happy with paying "only" MSRP in California, and with getting my car real soon (build date week 08/08)?

o or is there still a chance I can find someone who will accept the x-plan? I would be ready to go with any serious dealer out there and do the drop-shipping thing or even pick up the car. I don't mind the extra wait, as it would feel real good to walk away from my current dealer after this.

I would be interested to hear from people who got an x-plan recently:
- who did you get it from?
- do you have a build date yet or an estimated delivery?

Thanks!! :worship:

Manu.

I would try looking for another dealer. I think you feel better in the end.
So even say you wait longer or still have to pay msrp at another dealer, It will be your choice and your call! I'd rather give my order to someone that's honors the deal made. But that's really your call to make! Good Luck!
Happy Trails!!!

There may be some dealers who will honor plans for a loaded vert GT.

But not many.

Your car (like mine! ) represents a big fat profit to the dealer.

And the cold hard fact is they can turn right around and sell it for sticker without any effort at all right now.

So if you want it now, not much later (if ever); if you want a decent priority and a dealer that will s**k up to the regional Ford rep a little to get your car done quickly, paying sticker is a solid way to git'er done!

I'm in the same sort of boat, and I am willing to pay it to skip a long wait followed by a balance-out and starting over!

I also live in the BA. Which dealer was it? Did you give them a deposit?

I got it through a small town dealer with no depo. I went two 4 local dealerships, three in bigger towns. The last one was a smaller town dealership who said "yeah I can do that for you, they are in high demand.....but not as high as most Ford dealers claim."

S and C Ford in San Francisco will do X-Plan. I ordered mine on X-Plan a few weeks ago from them. I haven't heard anything from my salesman yet but that is because he has been on vacation for 2 weeks. I plan on calling him on Monday, when he gets back, to check the status of my order.

Dealer never asked for a deposit, which actually bothered me from the get go as deposit would mean an official signed aggrement.

I don't want to give names, but dealer is 4H drive north on Highway 5...

Sounds very good, I'll give it a try. Thanks!!

How silly can I be, I just realize I never considered San Francisco!?!? I thought big city, no way I find x-plans. Did not find a single dealer East Bay doing X-lan.

You don't want to give names? You do realize that bait and switch is illegal, right? Granted you didn't have anything in writing so it would be hard to prove, but telling everyone which dealership screwed you is the LEAST of what you should do.

Well I think what is reported in top-10 dealer scams as "bait and switch" is usually something a little different (e.g. advertised price not including mandatory options) and is indeed illegal.

And I'm not sure anything was really illegal here or I would be threatening to sue. I feel I too have been a little too inexperienced on this and share a tiny bit of the blame. Also it's not like the dealer waited until delivery day to change his mind. Just made me loose a couple months.

OK dealer is in Shasta county, CA.

I will PM the full info to anyone interested.

31K is a little over what x plan should be on 33K msrp. Take msrp x .9214 = invoice add 1.5 % = x plan

You might try offering $300 to $400 over invoice on a car to be ordered. Not one in stock. This would be same deal as x plan with out pin # etc. Try this at the end of the month when sales quota's are important. Go in person, don't email or call. Walk out if they will not come to your price and terms.

Get it in writing and put down no more than a $500 deposit. Be prepared to wait 4 months.

We only buy a car every few years. Dealers sell them every day. Experience is on their side but you can get what you want if you set a realistic goal and put the effort into making it happen. Don't let them sit you down in a little room and try to grind you into an MSRP order. Walk out. Be firm or your emotions will end up costing you a few thousand $$.

Good luck.

I am sure a million people will tell me I am wrong and stupid but I was told by one of the VP's in the ford finance dept that the dealers have no choice in the matter, theyhave to take it. I personally dont believe that or expect it but then again they(dealers) may expect people to not know that and tell people they dont have to accept. I dont know what to believe these days.

I just spoke with a salesman at the Ford store in my town. He has a windveil blur GT vert that he says he will sell at MSRP. I don't know if they will accept x-plan. I asked if there was a markup over MSRO and he said "they" want it but he'd fight for me. Right.

Try "The Ford Store" in Morgan Hill. They appear to have more allocation than S&C, they where pretty good to work with, and they took XPlan on my 05 delivered last week. I assume they will do XPlan on '06s as well. PM me if you want a contact there.

Here's a quote from the Ford Partner Recognition site where I generated my PIN:

Vehicles may be ordered from production or may be selected from the inventory of the dealership, if the dealer agrees. Dealers are not required to participate, but if they do, they must be an authorized Ford Motor Company dealer for the product sold and agree to abide by the New Vehicle Purchase Plan guidelines

I bought my stang from the Ford Store in Morgan Hill. I didn't have x-plan, but they said they would have taken it (no A,D or Z though) when I got my car. Nice people to do business with and no BS.

That is what I thought too, I was just stating what I was told from the person giving me their pin. Maybe they can pressure the dealers in their area to do it I dont know. I dont expect to be given Xplan but I am going to try.

You might want to try Ed Miller at Reynolds Ford (ISELLFORD)... He's been great, no BS & keeps you in the loop. He's in IL but might be able to drop ship.
