Worth waiting for the special variants?
I'm hoping the SE will be the BOSS with a 5.0 in it (hence BOSS 302) with at least a 350/350 HP/TQ rating. IRS will be awesome too. I like the Mach 1's but it's time to bring back the BOSS....am I right folks?!

Good, very true
Still good.
Woah there! I'm sure the new cobra and subsequent variants will be greta corner carvers. But to expect that a mustang is going to outhandle BMW's premier sports coupe with 50/50 weight distro. Fully integrated IRs and every trick in BMw's bag, not to mention a mid engine prosche? I think were going a bit too far.
The 05 GT itself (which doesn't have IRS) should be able to handle awesome, so the new Boss, or Cobra, will be able to handle amazingly.
Remember, this platform was designed for IRS. SO the variants will have amazing handling.
I expect handling superior to Porsche Carrera and M3...

Porsches, (excluding the boxster) are rear, not mid, engined. Whether or not they will continue to be is questionable. I think porsche has reached the limits, or is close, to what they can do with a flat 6 rear engine car.

If the SE is still almost 2 years away, that sucks.

The next SVT stang will have virtually the exact same proportions and suspension design as an M3. Only the stang will have real horsepower.

Thanks for advice and info all, but another thing to take into consideration in my case is that I'll most likely only have the car for 2 years before leaving for new york probably in late 06'. Won't have the car for like 4 years after taht =/ and then when I do move back will probably be able to trade in the 05' GT and get whatever variant or Cobra is out at the time. If they were out by april it'd work out perfectly but still thats another 6 months out fo 2 years I wouldnt have the car.
Go ahead and buy the 05 GT now and drive it for 2 years and when the time comes for the Cobra get it. Thats is what I plan to do because I am not going to wait for 2 more years for my Stang, I have waited long enough already. I am wondering how much it'll depreciate in those 2 years?? Anyway I'll be enjoying it rather then waiting and wondering. You should invest those extra bucks in the stock market or if you are a chicken put it in the bank.

Not too bad, but I like the mustang design better. :usa:
I can see porsche releasing another front or mid engined car that will have either their v10 or some larger displacement engine than their current 6 in a few years if not sooner. There is too much pressure from everyone else in that segment to be happy with a 325hp flat 6. People will still buy it because it is a Porsche, but Porsche is going to need more than the diehards to keep being Porsche, hence that atrocious Cayenne.
Back to the mustang, I guess I have more time to find a job and save up. Of course, it also means I will have a lot more options to choose from when I am ready to buy. I don't understand the logic, unless they are hoping to sell more gt's and hope people will trade them in when the SE comes out. I don't see how that's worth it, as that idea sounds retarded to me from a financial perspective. Who would buy a car that will depreciate a few thousand after you drive it off the lot, then get screwed on trade in for the new SE 2 years later? Maybe Jag will finally build that F-type.

I think alot of u are setting yourselves up for disappointment. Besides the $40,000 07 Cobra, I just dont see any other SEs being built this decade. You heard it here first. Doesnt hurt to dream though.

Ya, $40,000 is just my guess at what I think its gonna cost. Does anyone have anykind of confirmation that Ford is absolutely positively making SE's besides the Cobra? I need PROOF. lol The only thing I've read is the article stating the 2007 Cobra is the FIRST SE being built based on the new platform.
A guy driving a test mule told me there was going to be alot of exciting things to come and told me we would all have some nice choices in the future. He told me this in the fall so the special cars are coming i believe sooner than later.

Until I see them on a road course the M3 is number one in my book.

People, I can't stress this enough, it's time to revive the Musclecar era once again. Ford has always been awesome at having a variety of performance in the Mustang. If the guys at Ford are listening, make different variants....the consumers will buy them.
