Hey All!

As some of you may have read in my other threads, I'm working closely with a dealer in the LA area, Galpin Ford, who are starting their own speed shop ala Roush/Saleen/Shelby. I wanted to put a feeler out to see what you guys would like to see for our cars that hasn't been done yet, or hasn't been done RIGHT yet. I can't guarantee that we'll pursue every idea, but we are going to try and do some cool stuff. Here are a few ideas I've put on the table so far:

Targa Top
Backlit Shift ****
More Subtle "eleanor" style chin spoiler and ducktail.

Comments on these, and new suggestions welcome. I'd like to hear things you guys would actually want to see made so you can buy them, not just cool ideas for a show car.

To ease your mind on their abilities, here's some Galpin history:

*Introduced america to Sun Roofs. Proved to be such a popular dealer accessory that Ford made it a factory option

*Saved the Mustang convertible in the early 80's. After it was discontinued by Ford, Galpin made custom Mustang convertibles. Ford was so impressed, they brought it back into production.

*Have been doing dealer customs for 30+ years. see http://www.galpinized.com Some of their creations that have gone global: Full Size Conversion Vans in the 70's, with custom paint, carpeting, wood paneling, even fireplaces. LIfted 4x4 Trucks with suspension kits and big knobby tires.

Please note, this isn't an advertisement. I'm not paid by Galpin. I've just been able to work with contacts to establishment a relationship with them, and I want to give them some honest feedback of what the community would like to see. They are just as excited about the new stang, and modding it, as we are!

core
-- A Mustang-worthy 6-cylinder motor. Ford Australia's DOHC inline-6 (Barra 182) would be a good start...

-- A Mustang powered by Ford's 5.4L 3v motor... or, even better, a freer-revving, differently-tuned variant thereof.

-- Tremec T56-M12 6-speed manual

-- Some judiciously-applied chrome accents

-- 1969 and 1970 "Grabber" (and otherwise) colors, with black striping and black hoods...

Brushed Aluminum door inserts to match the iup. they had this with the 67/68. I currently think the med graphite interior is busy. I would also like to see the 71-73 ram air hood make a comeback to include making it functional...

A RAM AIR hood would look very sharp. Also, for the V6, Pony badges on the fenders where the GT has the GT badges. Side and rear window louvers would be a great addition!!!

I have one, and hope i made the deadline. A little background is in order:
There is no denying it, the engine and exhaust sound incredible when you are driving the car. So much, that many people drive without playing the stereo. For those that play the stereo, it has this neat feature that automatically turns the volume up as the speed of the car increases. The increase level is adjustable between the values 1 and 5. You would set it to 1 if you did not want the volume being automatically increased for you. I propose that Ford make the adjustability go in the other direction as well, for instance have it accept values between -5 and +5. The effect of a negative number would be to quiet the stereo under hard acceleration. This would allow us to enjoy the rumble of the engine instead of the stereo at the most opportune moments.

Sequential tails and rear panel like on the concept.

A 'GTA' badge in the rocker stripe for those with an automatic transmission. They could even make it an option package with IUP, overhead console, etc. - http://www.mustangmonthly.com/howto/28798/index2.html

Rear quarter louvers.

Rear window louvers.

A corral for the pony on the grill along with the light bars to the fog lights - http://www.mustangsandmore.com/ubb/bazooka67gt.html
