Ok, I had my 2000 model Stang close to 2 years and had less chips on my windshield than I do on my 05. The thing that drives me insane is that when I sold my 2000 Stang it had around 69000 miles on it and 40-45,000 was on the interstate which is where 90% of the windshield chips come from. I have 9,000 miles on my Stang now and most of the miles are city miles. I also noticed that the windshield was full of chips by 3,000 miles.
I truely believe that Ford has used a less quality windshield on our 05's. Is there anyone else that has had this luck with their windshield or is it just me with tons of bad luck.

I've got 2 pretty large chips, and most of my driving is city. Both chips happened on the highway though, and the roads are REALLY terrible up here (tons of potholes, and tons of asphault patches, which end up coming loose and becoming road projectiles).
No idea about the windshield quality, but since I've got 2 chips already, I'm definitely going aftermarket when I replace it. Can't be any worse I guess.

Same here when it comes to the aftermarket windshield. Mine are mostly minor; the ones that blind you when the sun is directly infont of you.

I received a rock chip on my windshield a few weeks ago when a rock flew off of a cement truck two cars ahead of me on the highway, and hit my windshield head on. I never experienced any rock chips on the windshields of my '99 or '02 Mustangs. Hopefully I won't receive any more on my '05.

None on the windshield for me (knock on wood), but the paint in the front fascia seems to chip easily. Had the car since 5/11, little h-way driving, and I have 3 nicks in the paint!

i have a small chip that has cracked and spider-webbed through a 1/4 to 1/2 in diameter circle. PISSED. loads of rock chips in the paint on from bumper too tho. guess thats what i get for cruisin around at over 100 all the time on the freeway...

I really got thwacked on the way in this morning, it sure SOUNDED like I had a new break. I don't see anything though, I may have gotten lucky this time.
I did notice last time I washed it that I have some very tiny nicks already. I've noticed these on all my cars over time, you can only see them if you look across your windshield with light reflecting behind it. Cars that I've put a bunch of miles on end up with literally hundreds of these tiny nicks.

I have 2 tiny chips on my windshield, and I've owned it for 2 weeks. I got one chip from a rock that flew off a dump truck (and I was actually trying to switch lanes to get away from it), and the other happened on Saturday on the way back from the Southwestern Roundup, while on I-17. I'm not sure where it came from. Oh well. Windshields don't last very long in AZ!

Mine took several solid hits without a chip until the right rock came along. The factory glass is just under $600, and if you have a low or 0 deductible comprehensive - it's a free replacement.

Donkey I hope you dont really believe that. Havent you ever heard nothing in life is free. Well it may be free when you get it. But believe you me the insurance company will get it back, one way or the other. Dont make claims unless you have to, or you will pay more down the road.
