The dot matrix pattern cannot be tinted, the tint will not stick to it.
I got that part, but this was on the front windshield.

The front windshield has the dot matrix pattern on it and a lot of people like to tint the top 6" or so. Therefore you can't on the new Mustang due to the dot matrix pattern.

Oh really? I din't know you couldn't stripe it...oh well, the windows are small enough anyway. I don't need to get pulled over every five seconds...

I'm surprised I've went a month with dark tint and no front license plate and haven't been pulled over yet.

It's fine for me. I wanted to go 5% but was worried about the night driving. I think 20% is the perfect choice.

What's the maximum legal tint in MD?

EDIT: Found it online! This place says 35% all around for MD. It's got all states listed if anyone is interested.

Well in VA it is 50% on sides and 35% in back. I think 35% all around will be good

Yeah cops will give you a blue light special on your car to test the tint color. I have heard of stories where they have removed the tint off of the car while on the road. I have always had 15% on all of my cars (5% factory, 20% aftermarket) and have been given work orders to remove whenever I got pulled over for speeding, but I never did them...oh well. Tint color shouldn't be illegal it's a retarded law. It was passed so officers can see in the back of your vehicle when they are pulling you over, how many heads are in the car...just stupid.

I have dot matrix on my Maxima's rear window and it's been tinted for 3 years no problem. Maybe your installer didn't have experience in tinting over it.

This is a well known problem with the front windshield on the Mustangs, it has nothing to do with a lack of experience.

The windows go up and down when you open the door? is this standard on all models? What exactly is the point of it? It sounds cool...just curious
The windows are seated up into the weather stripping for better sound and keeping the elements out. Pretty cool feature.

I have basically the same thing on the front of my Maxima and my tinter was able to apply the tint over it. My car also has a built in antenna on the rear window.

I have 20 right now, had it done when I lived in Indiana(state law is 30 all around), now live in Florida (28% on front side, 15% on back side and back window) Never been checked for the tint. Although, in Florida its easy, just have the front windows rolled down if you get pulled over, unless they ask to you roll it up, they won't even see it.

Tek, if it gets too pricy, let me know. I know of places to get both done pretty cheap for good work.

How can the safety of the cops be stupid?

Yes it is annoying for us, who want a nice looking car. The safety of the officers is more important though.
